I went to Antwerp. D*unk a load of the Trappist beers in a square eating mussels and chips. Finished in a karaoke bar. Was an amazing few days

Duvel is pretty good - the Citra one especially will finish you off quickly if you like them strong.

If you’re stateside though, Goose Island do a decent Belgian style ale - Matilda. Flying dog raging bitch is a good Belgian style IPA and, if you’re feeling flush and have a few dollars to burn, then I really like Sierra Nevada Brux but it’s about £23 a bottle here.

All excellent choices had them. If you can find it there look for Victory golden monkey.

"kwak"

I agree Kwak is great, 8% slightly spicy and served in an awesome glass. A bar we went to in Brussels took your right shoe as ‘deposit’ so they got the glasses back.

Been there with the Duvel triple hop Citra - 4 bottles by the pool before got up and realised it was 9.5%! And don’t get me started on Hoptimum by Sierra Nevada, 10.6% and pretty easy going....

Leffe Brune is lovely stuff too.

I’ve also fallen into the Duvel trap, so you’re not alone there

Birmingham

If you like leffe try the ruby one, very nice.

Timmermans in cherry or peach is a very easy drink.

Kriek Boon is gorgeous, regularly finish the evening with a bottle of that stuff.

Rodenbach fruitage and liefmans fruitesse are interesting Belgian beers that you serve over ice.

In The Hills

De Garre Triple but not sure it is available for retail

Or De Halve Maan – Brugse Zot Blonde is a easy drinking one

Alice x
