couple, us we him her.

What do you remember wearing from your teens that had to be worn?

As a teen in the 80's it was all about casual wear.

Lyle and Scott, Pringle, Benetton, , Farah trousers,

Lacoste.

Or full on sports casual wear it was also the time of the growth of hip hop and rap music.

Lot's of high top trainers or Adidas tracksuits etc...

Must admit I couldn't afford most of stuff so either purchased it from Southall market or purchased the badges to see or iron onto cheaper versions of.

.

Jack Wills gilets. JW tracksuit bottoms with ugg boots. Striped shirts in pastel colours. Denim miniskirts and leggings. Bonus points for big (real pearls), backcombed hair and that awful nude lipstick that was the highlight of sophistication. This doesn't even cover the emo years of my youth, it gets worse.

Earliest fashion memory was at primary school ... Newcastle doc martins, patch pocket cords, penny round collars and tank tops

The dms were imitations because we was a bit skint and the patch pockets made by my seamstress mum

Around 1976 I started wearing really high waisted trousers with very wide legs and short tie waisted blouses. I recall one blouse very fondly, it was blue with a gitanes advert on the back.

Global hypercolour T-shirt’s and shell suits were all the rage when I was a teenager.

After all who wouldn’t want something that got you all hot and sweaty in the first place and then showed off to the world in different colours which parts of you were sweaty

Manchester (she/her)

I didn't run to any of that stuff. Mostly athletic style/ beach bum, Billabong, Seafolly etc. Shells and glitter the fuck were we thinking. The beginning of hair straighteners (about the time I first got a pixie cut ). I'd treasure hunt in Valley Girl, Chinese clothing stores, and put together my own stuff. Low ride bootcut jeans (the beginning of skinnies but absolutely not for me). Lots of beads.

Band t shirts,, sewn up tight wrangler jeans, cowboy boots, leather jacket, and an embroidered cut off denim jacket that stank of patchouli oil. I wore that almost constantly when I was out.

Newcastle and Gateshead

I went thru a backwards jeans phase... and they were two tone jeans...

My favourite were a black red combo.... followed by a black green pair and a black brown pair...

Heck.. I thought I was cool.... mind you... the shirts I wore were so oversized and baggy I don’t think you could see the jeans...

Fashion guru I was not.... I was always “interesting”

I used to wear big baggy DD pants with a metal chain attached, Doc Martens and some sort of slightly colourful fitted top. I wasn't ever much into make-up so I didn't bother with the black lipstick so often. Sometimes changed it up and wore a denim or other mini skirt, fishnets and long Docs

The only makeup I wore was body glitter on special occasions

I did occasionally add a wee bit of glitter gel onto my decolletage or glitter spray in my hair for special occasions

There and to the left a bit

Teenage me was all about Fred Perry tops and Ben Sherman shirts (when they didn't cost an arm and a leg), Two Tone trousers or Sta Prest or Levi 501s, black Harrington or green flight or denim jacket, "Grandad" cardigans and ski jumpers - penny loafers (tassles optional), brogue or rider boots, white socks

Pretty much informed my style of dress for the rest of my life too

Late 80s: 501s with turn ups, Dr Martins boots, some kind of floral shirt.

Over 30 years later and I've progressed to Jeans (Edwin or Hebtroco) with turn ups, Dr Martins shoes and black t-shirts.

I may be a dinosaur.
