just heard on news that the rogue traders biker has been jailed for 4yrs ,for claiming housing benifit n income support while working n earning at least 50,000pounds ,,,,,

If the courts found him guilty on the evidence provided then wouldn't it have been better to get him to repay what he took and court costs? I fail to see how jailing him enables him to repay this money. However if he is repaying then jail as well doesn't seem too harsh.

It is 12 weeks.

He's been made an example as I've seen benefit cheats on Saints and Scroungers defrauding more for longer get suspended sentences...plus pay every penny back.

One woman was able to pay it back with one cheque: £72,000 as I recall. How many people have that kind of money in their back pocket...let alone someone on benefits!
