"Well the fact is this - I have a friend or should that be ex-friend, who i have just found out shares a hotel room with his Mum when he goes on holiday! It's not exactly illegal but then again it is a bit odd! The fact that he is 41 and his Mum is a widow who is 76. Just interested about people's thoughts on this?" And?

I think it's nice he takes his widowed mum on holiday, my oh does the same. Shows he's a caring and practical person. Money they save on single room supplements he can treat his old mum. Not sure where your mind is and why you're making it sound sleazy.

"can see very little wrong with it, single room supplements for 2 rooms can be high their choice" Absolutely.. two single beds in a room is hardly a problem. Maybe he is her carer and she needs assistance with things. heavens above !

At 76 she probably doesn't feel safe being alone in a hotel room on her own. Was your intention to poke fun at your friend with this thread and hope to inspire a group laugh at someone who puts himself out for his mother per chance?

"I'll hold my hand up... I think it's odd for a middle aged son to share a room with his elderly mother. I am not close to my parents at all and that is probably why I find it odd. I do understand why 99% of the posts say they think it's sweet/ kind that he's looking after his mum. I would think it less odd that a daughter would be sharing with her mum or a son sharing with his dad. Just my opinion. I wouldn't necessarily think it was incestuous.... just odd. It's not exactly illegal but then again it is a bit odd! The fact that he is 41 and his Mum is a widow who is 76. Just interested about people's thoughts on this?" " much like an 'odd' bunch of people shagging ppl that arent their partners...putting things into perspective helps..the tones are there of what 'odd' means in this thread....maybe thats why I find them distasteful.Next up...is it odd to kiss ur mother on the lips?...surely thats more a sexual act..of course would anyone read into what kind of kiss it is??- I really doubt it.Same should go with family members sharing the same room, bed.usually they sleep in them 'oddly' enuff!

I find it odd that a middle age man would be having a holiday with his mum in the first place - sounds like loneliness to me" My oh lives close to his mum. He and his daughters visit regularly. His brother and his family seldom visit. He's national director for his company, has a good circle of friends, Each year he goes on holiday with his daughters and son-in-laws and takes his mum away, just the two of them. He attends all her hospital appointments with when he can, visited her every night she was in hospital recently and takes her shopping and for lunch every weekend. I was not close to my parents, and selfishly I think he could spend more time with me, but I realise some people are blessed with parents they love deeply and want to spend time with. My ex husband is the same, he's moved in to his mums one bed flat to take care of her and has put his four bed house on the market. I think it sad that it's seen as loneliness, not love and "gratitude" when an adult child takes a parent on holiday. I hope my kids will do the same for me.

"I share a room with my 14 yr old son when we go on holiday, it's too expensive to book two single rooms therefore we share a twin room. Trying to bribe my daughter to come with me next year as my single room supplement is £650. Last year I sent titch off with his big sister and her wee son ..... saved them all money as she got the wee one free .... saved my sanity as I got a week free from him! Lucky you...can't get shot of mine and boyfriends have moved in too. I'll come with you this year we'll leave all the rest of them at home. I'm off to Marrakech, promise not to trade you for spices and a camel...I've got your back! Take the train from Casablanca going south Blowing smoke rings from the corners of my mouth Colored cottons hang in the air Charming cobras in the square Striped djellebas we can wear at home Well, let me hear you now Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express They're taking me to Marrakesh.....YaaaaY! Most of us have children/parents we go on holiday with so couldn't understand why you thought it odd. We then went on to give our personal experiences of doing the same, which didn't seem what you wanted. I thought the same as Fabio to be fair; you were looking to get a cheap laugh at your "friends" expense, then got tetchy when it backfired.

"Gets right on my tits here some days when a difference of opinion is seen as attack I can't see any attack here The OP....you're no stranger to starting threads that cause a huge response like this, you know what you're doing,if you don't then I would'nt believe you anyway as I can think of 2 previous ones from you that were obvious flame starters, and thats cool if you want the response as theres no denying you do get a response Revel in the attention you're looking for and stop being childish and saying you're being attacked I like the flamestarter description think i'm gonna use it! And spot on too!" Be careful you don't make the flames too high....someone will come along and piss on them for you and that will be the end of that

"when you have to resort to inferring that an ex friend is odd and raising the point of 'legality' of sharing a room with his mother.. the only legality issue being one of incest, which is why you said it the way you did.. and just to gain attention.. thats not 'flamestarting' its a bit sad and pathetic, you need to look at yourself tbh.." Oh gawd - yawn yawn - I said it was NOT illegal and i have already said i could have worded it better! I think you need to read more carefully - Why do you have to resort to insults - That shows your weakness.
