Sad as it is, they were told not to enter Kent.

Working in Dover, the roads are clear except the additional vehicles parked up. Many have gone up the road to find less crowded areas.

Where else is there for them to go. They have a load on the back to go across the channel. Would you not just join the queue and accept the long wait? It’s far from ideal, but what choices do the majority have. Some our British trying to export goods, others are continentals trying to get home. Not good for anyone.

I was under the impression that it’s mainly foreign drivers who were booked to head back through Dover. Quite possible that they have no other way.

Secondly good on France for halting the new variant virus reaching into Europe

Lastly, wait until January.... it will be a lot worse!

They don't all have beds in the cab.Three days without food or a toilet is inhumane. Having nowhere to wash your hands in a pandemic is beyond inhumane

I'd like to think it's France trying to keep their people safe rather than pettiness.

I'd hope if people have learned anything from this year it's that viruses spread where people travel.

Yes of course it is. It was the French that mishandled our handling of the Covid crisis. It was the French that ignored all the warnings and still allowed people to mix even when cases were rising. It was the French that still refuses to accept the third wave is not only here but worse than all that came before resulting in the current mutation.

Yes, the French are totally to blame...

We were put into tier 4 restrictions overnight. We aren't allowed to cross the border between us and the tier 2 area that joins us unless certain exceptions apply. I'm not sure why people feel the French are wrong to impose a similar restriction.

Just said on the news they are getting the army in to help with lateral testing but need 72hrs being negative before being allowed through. Looking at the way they were all mixing even if they have a test they'll positive before that time lapses.

Feel for them but I do hope they are sensible

They're doing the test that takes half an hour for results. They have to have a negative test within the last 72 hours, not wait 72 hours after a negative test to travel

Glad your ole man is home for Christmas, being a driver myself I understand the frustrations of them all down there. Got friends in Spain getting boat from Santander tomorrow, home Christmas Eve. Lots in Dover won’t get out. Kent CC need to buck their ideas up and provide toilets etc

So the new virus is reported in Italy so this will not stop it.

Some have large high cabs with everything in it yes even heating diesel heaters and WC hot and cold water as like a moter home. But lots don't. No probably most don't and most are EU citersens trying to get home. This again is a French problem caused by them flexing mussel. But we should help the drivers in some way. Food etc for sum even water will be low. The army should step in there is a training camp in Kent. That could do so much. If ordered.

I feel for the people who were/are stranded and I appreciate their frustration but attacking the British police isn’t the way forward. It’s not like the UK are stopping them from leaving, it’s France who were stopping them from entering, get angry with them.

It’s as though the rest of the world think we invented this new strain of COVID rather than just detected it, it could have started anywhere. This is where mass testing and advanced science is working to our detriment.

It seems this was more of anti Brexit move than a covid issue.
