lol i had tickets to see bon jovi in coventry and stupid me booked the wrong two days off. no one would swap with me so i went to work and missed the concert.

Pretty lame excuse. We all do a valuable job and get paid for it but not all of us take advantage and throw sickies. If your job isn't rewarding enough, move over and let someone else work.
