Get Fab Talking

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I recently did a post on mental health and a lot of people reached out publicly and privately. It's been a tough old year and people are struggling more now than they ever have before. It saddens me to see so many people feeling this way so I feel I need to do more.

My inbox is always open to anyone who is struggling right now and I'm asking my fellow fabbers to do the same.

Please use this thread to offer help to others and let's get people talking. If your struggling, feel alone or just need a chat, please reach out to someone.

Christmas is the worst time of year for many so let's create a supportive fab bubble over the next week and beyond.

We can get through this together

Love this always available to talk regards mental health matters, as someone who's suffered for 30 years, sometimes it helps to talk to someone who's been there

"What happens after talking?"

You may realise you might need to go get help, you may just feel better in the knowledge that others are going through similar

Write it down on here then, you don't have to always talk

Its a big issue for most of us, it took me a long time to open up to people. Go at your own pace but when you are ready to talk, please reach out to someone

Christmas can also bring added pressure financially and that's before we add Covid to the mix. Sometimes just talking about how you feel helps.

Absolutely any type of stress can lead to mental health issues, find a way to release the stress and look after yourself always

As we ponder whether reaching out on how we feel is some thing we can or can't do...let's all take a moment to think of all the people known or unknown that are no longer here to accept any help...may they rest in peace!! Reach out to any one that offers help...help is always here and there no matter how dark a place is that you are in...x

use of Mental Health'...later on I got 3 messages off guys that had never messaged me before and they all suffer with their mental health....So remember...it is always good to chat!! x

I will join you in this act - the news is harsh tonight and for many guys and women who live alone the next few months are going to be extremely tough - so a chat and a kind message will make a big difference.

Great idea for a thread. I know of a few people who have been unable to continue, one similarity is that those around them didn't expect it. Leaving them with feelings of tremendous guilt.

Let's also make it clear to reach out to people to see how they are and bring some compassion, love and light. Especially those who we know sometimes suffer.

Many who suffer won't always reach out, I say this from personal experience. So please, message or call that person you feel needs it and pay it forward

Good idea, thanks OP.

I’m not a fan of Xmas generally and if I don’t see my kids am usually alone. Try to keep occupied and do weird shit like , walk snowdon or go to Stonehenge early on Xmas morn.

To have those freedoms taken away is already making me uneasy so open to chat for others and self here

It’s good to talk

I know its really tough, the best we can do is reach out to loved ones virtually or on the phone. Just think of next christmas when your all back together again and make that your focus. Hope your okay

Near Bordon

I, the male half, spent fifteen years as the union rep at work.

I did not do it because I'm a militant type, no one else wanted to do it and I enjoy helping people.

What surprised me was that the people with the most problems were the most cheerful ones, it's a mask.

I helped them with sexual, financial, alcohol and drug problems all of which were way beyond my remit and I'd have to find support groups etc for them or read up on their issues.

At first I was bemused that these people had the Internet at their fingertips and could, in theory, find anything out whenever they wanted, but either couldn't or wouldn't.

Then it dawned on me that they needed to talk to someone, to share their problems with a human contact.

So yes, please talk to someone, they may not be able to solve your problems but you won't be alone with your problems.

Great that you did this especially as a lot of peoples stress starts at work. Agree, sometimes the happiest person in the room could be the saddest when alone, we all need to remember to check in on everyone
