Someone else's parcel

Moved into a property 6 months ago and get the usual post for past Tennant's, got home from work today to find a large parcel with I'm guessing a past Tennant's name on from Amazon. What would you do with it?

Sometimes they say to keep it and they'll send another to the correct address.

Handling the returns is often more hassle and cost than they can be bothered with.

Contact Amazon is the *only* option - they'll be able to track the buyer from the info on the label and probably arrange collection and delivery to the correct recipient at your convenience.

Any notion of keeping it is effectively theft

Chances are the previous tenant hasn't changed their delivery details on their account

Let Amazon know you have it

Chances are the previous tenant will be waiting for it and will click on to what's happened pretty soon

Sit on it for a while

The sender and/or the receiver will know it has been delivered, as it states so. Depending on who delivered it, not always Amazon, they may have taken a photo of it at your address.

The only thing to do is contact Amazon

My experience with a misdelivered parcel from Amazon was them apologising for my package being late and then telling me I can return it to them or bin it.

Luckily the intended recipients saw they had misaddressed it and came to collect it.

Either contact the place it was delivered from.

Which you dont have to do as its not your fault you havent ordered anything.

Never give anyone the parcel as your liable for it as addressed at your property.

If its amazon parcel then they should send out an official vehicle and person to collect from you or arrange to collect from you by letter.

They will send a delivery driver to collect from you.

Interesting info to consider the parcel maybe not being returned or delivered to new address.

Whos really at fault well guess what the owner or the person who lives at the address is responsible

Because they hadn't deleted that address from their list of delivery addresses and clicked it by mistake - I've almost done that on Amazon before now

A similar thing happened to me a few months ago when an Amazon Prime parcel was delivered to my address with someones name who I didn't recognise. It wasn't even the previous owners name. So I rang Amazon & explained the situation to a very helpful lady who told me to leave it out for a courier to collect the next day, and that if they didn't collect it in 24 hours it was mine to do with as I pleased!

It wasn't collected ( I actually waited 48 hours just to make sure) and then I opened it.

Unfortunately it wasn't anything worth any real value.

Pity they didn't make a mistake with an iPhone or new laptop or something!

Road Trip ..after that I’d write a film script about the interesting characters I met along the way. Also how I met the love of my life and ended up happier due to my philanthropic attitude to other people’s parcels.
