I've made one of J's gifts...well, painted it...I can't say what it is as that bit's a surprise. I hope he likes it!

Has anyone else made any gifts themselves this year? If so, what have you made?

Have you ever received a homemade gift you loved?

Or maybe one you hated?

Lu

I make scented wax melts, so the last couple of years I've done gift sets for a few family and friends. With pennies being very tight this year, a few more people will be getting them.

I've been making them for close to 5 years now. Problem is with lockdown etc, every other person seems to be making and selling them. Though most aren't tested or labeled correctly and I dread to think what chemicals are in them Plus no insurance or tax paid either by some of the prices that are being charged

It's happening to a lot of small businesses and it's a shame.

It's exactly why it's important to support them!

My friend made me a most lovely painting, of a night time forest with a magical sky. It is one of my most treasured things nowadays. I like looking at it before drifting off to sleep!

I've made wooden rings for my kids.

Even the lads love them

They already have them, as it was a bit hard keeping it secret.

They'd just laugh and say I'm too fat to be an elf

I just noticed, I'm wearing a test ring for my daughter on my Pinky in this profile pic.

There is a thread on a real life chat site I'm a member of, where people post photos of the homemade things they have either received themselves or have seen people selling on Facebook. It's honestly the funniest thread I have ever read, and I look forward to it getting full so that someone starts another

.

I've made some sloe gin for my mum this year, I don't normally but she was sad she missed the sloes this year. The worst homemade present I've received would be a bakewell tart from my cousin who knows I've a nut allergy but thought I could give it to my fiance instead.

I'm doing an event this Saturday through to Tuesday and I'll be buying the last of my Christmas presents from the small business traders that will be there. Really looking forward to it as well just to be able to get out and meet a lot of people again even if socially distanced etc
