I definitely prefer the prequels to all the three latest ones!

Well, I guess The Force Awakens was alright, but only because it's a play-by-play remake of A New Hope (which is why I don't like it... It's just fanservice and nothing else).

Agree the final three if you’d watched the original three, you knew what was coming as a rewrite of the stories

The Last Jedi also had a slight beat for beat retake of ESB which felt weird.

Thpugh Adam Driver's Kylo Ren generally delivered the performance and character I wish they could have found for Anakin in the prequels.

The last 3 were awful

There was no narrative there at all.

The 1st 3 were about Luke becoming a jedi

The prequels for all their faults were about anakin..I actually think revenge of the Sith is decent

The last 3 were just a mess

I'm not sure what's worse out of the other 5.

It just shows the differences between what even SW geeks like, but we at least all agree on the original three and Rogue

I cant understand the cool reaction to rogue one.. its essentially a star wars war film where...spoiler.. all the goodies die and you see death Vader with a nark on "

Me neither, it’s a great movie and fills a gap.... haha re spoiler alert, a friend asked “would I like it, I haven’t seen any SW” perfect then, I replied. Whereas my lad all the way through “you know they are all going to die mum”

"I definitely prefer the prequels to all the three latest ones!

Well, I guess The Force Awakens was alright, but only because it's a play-by-play remake of A New Hope (which is why I don't like it... It's just fanservice and nothing else).

The prequels I just find so blah, no imagination, almost twee acting and whoever invented Jar Jar f’ing Binks needs therapy

Agree the final three if you’d watched the original three, you knew what was coming as a rewrite of the stories

The last 3 were awful

There was no narrative there at all.

The 1st 3 were about Luke becoming a jedi

The prequels for all their faults were about anakin..I actually think revenge of the Sith is decent

The last 3 were just a mess"

The prequels were telling a different story with a single vision. It was not the greatest but it was consistent in the story it was trying to tell. It was a different "time". The dialogue and directing were the issues, the story was fine.

The characters (jar jar aside) were generally better within the story they were trying to tell too.

The sequels...

A new hope, I mean The force awakens - was alright. That's it, it was alright. It gets a pass.

Last Jedi - this right here fucked it all up for the sequels, they tried to do things differently in all the wrong ways. For the sake of doing it differently and not for the sake of the story while riding on the coat tails of TESB plot points.

Rise of Skywalker... Oh god, where to actually start with this one. They didn't have much to work with thanks to TLJ, story threads that could have worked for the trilogy were destroyed in the previous movie and no direction left to go. They just took the shit they had, threw it at the wall, and presented it as the finished product.

Plus all 3 of the movies were still Empire and Rebels - don't give me that first order/last order and resistance bullshit. At least prequels shook things up with Republic vs Separatists being different and had a different dynamic going on.

Dont get me started on that

In jedi..the rebels won..the empire were defeated..and the force awakens was like that had never happened.

How are they still rebels?they won?

That's why the mandalorian is so good.

The empire is still there but its splintered

Dave Filoni did an explanation on the importance of The Phantom Menace in the grand scheme of things and it makes so much sense and solidifies the movie in the saga.

The machete order for the movies is really good

A New Hope

Empire Strikes Back

The Phantom Menace

Attack of the Clones

Revenge of the Sith

Return of the Jedi

There used to be some gifs from cut scenes from the first Thor film that provided evidence for that. The theory is that in all the films after that, the extra piece at the front of the costume was to hide “little Hiddles”.

Sorry should have said. It's in which order to watch them.

You start with A new hope. It leads in to Empire. The prequels then serve as flashbacks after the "I am your Father" reveal. Revenge of the sith then properly sets up the emporer leading in to Return of the Jedi.

Godalming

I’m a massive fan but have been very lucky to have been in some amazing places that would make fans weep.

If only I could share the pics.

Seems we're all in good company here

I'll add D&D, MTG, boardgames, and Wheel of Time to the many great shows and series mentioned already

Huge WoT fan here, also Brandon Sanderson, Robin Hobb, and pretty much any other epic fantasy I can get my hands on.

WoT is one of the best series! Robert Jordan was a loss to us all. Have you read the Patrick Rothfus series or Joe Abbercrombie, even Brent Weeks. Those are up there with George RR too!

I sometimes like to use "Fracking" from Battlestar Gallactica

P.S. re-watched the first couple of series of Farscape on amazon recently. Still good!

I actually haven’t yet, I’ve got a huge stack of books waiting to be read, they’re all first books of series. I think Abercrombie is in there but I can’t remember (you’d think I’d have lots of time to read this year, but my mental energy and concentration have been lacking). I haven’t read GRRM, I don’t go really grimdark - Hobb is about the furthest I go in that direction.

The last 3 were just a mess

I read somewhere where the theme of the prequels..anakin becoming a jedi..the republic become the empire..was a great story..but the execution was terrible.

Those crappy droids and trade embargoes

The wooden acting doesnt help but I do think revenge of the Sith is by far the best.

Dave Filoni did an explanation on the importance of The Phantom Menace in the grand scheme of things and it makes so much sense and solidifies the movie in the saga.

The machete order for the movies is really good

A New Hope

Empire Strikes Back

The Phantom Menace

Attack of the Clones

Revenge of the Sith

Return of the Jedi

The Phantom Menace is optional, but as stated I view it as important thank to Filoni.

What about rogue one or solo?

Sith above jedi?

You could be right

Sorry should have said. It's in which order to watch them.

You start with A new hope. It leads in to Empire. The prequels then serve as flashbacks after the "I am your Father" reveal. Revenge of the sith then properly sets up the emporer leading in to Return of the Jedi."

What's happening with the new films?

Werent the ones who did game of thrones gonna be involved?
