Depends how you define it. I'm a 1 by birth. Gentrification round my way, what I wear and my books probably elevate that a bit.

I was told the definitive test of whether your school was posh was if you did latin.

Maybe I'm an 8 - I did go to private school, eek...

By the way your accent is or by your birth right? Posh is often miss understood by well spoken. I've many well spoken friends who I wouldn't say are posh. I'm a 8 if it's about accent in that case but certainly feel I'm on a level playing field with every human. It's a bit like how dark is your skin from a scale to 1 to 10 in other words who cares as long as you are a nice human.

Wouldn’t say posh, well spoken yes. Being born in Ascot Berkshire prior to them becoming an extension of Essex wannabes. I can hold a good conversation and am comfortable in a silver service setting and formal dinner but equally I’m down to Earth and love a good old burger in spoons. So probably sit somewhere on the middle of your scale. I can rough it like a local or I can be a lady if needed.

"Luke: Educated at a private school and pretty posh. Probably 7.5 to 8.

Hannah: American. Definitely not posh in a British sense. She doesn't even use a knife and fork properly! "

I never knew how to use a knife and fork the posh way either lol

As long as the food gets into my mouth I've used the fork properly

I use the latter somehow, could be judged as a bit posh! So probably an 8 for me "

I'm about a 6. Right in the middle. Born in the East End of London, both parents (one Brummie, one Cockney) from dodgy council estates. Currently living in a slum district in probably THE worst part of the Midlands. However, my Mum had ludicrous middle-class aspirations due to having worked at the Beeb ("learn to anunciate properly, daaaahling, you'll get further in life") and even tried sending me to a snobby boarding school once, so I do occasionally speak a bit "RP" I suppose.

People think I'm posh as my parents have money.

That's not my money though is it.

I burp and trump sometimes and drink pot noodles as I can't be bothered to get a folk.

So I'm a 3 at poshness

All that effort contradicts the fact they can be made with just a kettle? And sounds horrid too, I knew someone who put red and brown sauce all over their roast dinner

On a mooch

I’d put myself as a 3 - I talk how I talk but can adopt a ‘telephone’ voice when needed; grandparents worked in the mills, factories and fields, parents both army; you stuffed out your meals by adding bread to everything (still happens); don’t buy things I want, more what I need; on the other hand I went to boarding school, which some would class as ‘posh’ but this was definitely more your estate comprehensive and not to unlike St Trinans; my dad has failed many a time at trying to drag me into his world (one downside of rising through the army ranks) having me appreciate the finer things in life, I know what I like, what I’m comfortable with and remember where I’m from.

"Depends how you define it. I'm a 1 by birth. Gentrification round my way, what I wear and my books probably elevate that a bit.

I was told the definitive test of whether your school was posh was if you did latin.

Nah, I have an A in Higher Latin and my school was definitely not posh !

No doubt that rule was about English schools. "

I did classics with Latin! I also use the words blimey, hurrah, good-oh and splendid in a completely unironic way.

I grew up in grinding poverty in a pretty bad area and although I now have a job that pays me well and have the means to have a great lifestyle I work my arse off because I'm terrified I'll end up back there again.

Posh? I wish.

Depends in what sense and categories you would have posh covering, and what it takes to be considered posh.

Generally a 5 or 6 though I guess.

North Bucks

Came from nothing. Hunger was a way of life due to my Mothers issues.

Came to live in the UK with what I call my Uk family. Private School Uni paid for completely. Never paid for any of my cars and my house was very kindly provided for me although I pay a small mortgage.

When I go home it’s very posh. Whilst no full time staff other than a cleaner sometimes there are people “in”. No alcohol before 19:00 and that’s to be taken before dinner. I’m oft to fuck up by picking up the wrong fork or a habit of dunking my bread roll in the soup to get a glare from my Father. My language changes noticeable when at the family pile.

I have been a 1 to about an 8. I consider myself very lucky to have found myself where I am considering where I have been.
