Is it socially acceptable to chat someone up in the gym?

I mean I know people are there to train, myself included. But I was wondering on opinions from women in particular.... if a guy started talking to you and asked you out while in the gym, would you tell him to fuck off I’m training etc?

I’m asking because it may seem lecherous to some and was intrigued on opinions.

I think it depends how it’s done, but I’m not sure women will appreciate trying to be chatted up when they try and work out, but if it happens naturally through a mutual conversation then that’s different.

Happened a few times to me but I don't tell them to F off I am however too much in the zone to give it much interest so its probably not the best time to make a move

I probably wouldn't tell them to fuck off but I'd probably feel incredibly uncomfortable and try to find a way to get away as quickly as I can.

it depends how. In my yoof I was chatted up in many different locations (I was and still am a stranger to the gym though). My reaction depended on two things, how attractive I found the guy and the way they approached me

If you’re polite and read the signs that they’re open to talk then go for it, what’s the worst that could happen?

I mean you could be banned from the gym, possibly punched in the face by someone who’s literally been training to make herself stronger and everyone else would see it and think you’re a creep, probably hound you out of town....

But it might go well too

No ta. I'm on a time schedule usually (before/after work, getting home for childcare); I'm paying for my PTs time and I have shit to do. Please just leave me to get on with my stuff, thanks.

My wife gets chatted up in the sauna and steam room regularly. I love hearing about it!
