Agree.we rescued a 13 year old grey hound, had no collar on so took her to the vets to see if she was chipped and she was,we rang the owner who said shes allways escaping then 3 days later he rang us and said could we have her and gave us her bed and loads of food for her, had her for around 8 months before she became ill with cancer of the blood and had to be put to sleep. vet thought she was once being treated for it and the owner just got fed up!!

On my way to work in the morning I pass this black man, impressive physique, dressed like his heading for the gym for a serious workout, in fact he reminds me of Shaun T, the guy behind the Insanity workouts.

I always think "insanity" when I pass him as he walks a rat like yap yap dog with pink bows in its hair, pulled along on a diamante lead.

It never fails to tickle me.

Just a thought...

In 2011…The UN estimate approximately 15 million children died of hunger…….

In 2011 the Pet Food Manufactures Association of Great Britain estimated 22 million pets were being cared for in Britain costing 1.5 billion pounds in food alone. Which coincidentally would’ve been enough money to fund sufficient life saving rations for all 15 million children.

thats the answer then....

they can eat all our dogs..so no starving children..

and we save £1.5 billion which could be used to stimulate economic recovery!!!

Nah,,,, it just makes me wonder if the lives of our own children were suddenly put in jeopardy from something as financially preventable as hunger and malnutrition how many people would abandon their acceptance of keeping pets as a civilised pursuit.

Eh!

I actually see people who treat dogs as people a little abusive, dogs dont want to be dressed in frills, have the nails painted, bows in their hair, carried about everywhere so they dont get dirty etc they want to be dogs, they want to eat grass and roll in their own shit cause thats what dogs do

I love my dog but hes a dog and hes treated as such, he goes for a run and gets dirty and sleep in a dog bed on the floor, ok he has a coat but thats because hes a greyhound and they feel the cold, but its a box standard greyhound coat its nothing frilly or fancy

yeah they are, they will do what they are told.

they are not even self aware, the basic of a bit of animal intelligence.

rounding up sheep or guiding a blind man or sniffing a bomb out is not the sign of intelligence.

perhaps they are not the most intelligent of animals but by and large they are 'domesticated' and do carry out some tasks which greatly assist 'us'

maybe we could train other animals/mammals to perform what they do...?

are they stupid??? are they????- I could counterbalance ur statements in many ways, regarding what is intelligence...a dog would most likely survive than a stupid human who has no tools, and lacking in senses in some stupid forest.

try and show some perspective, to what 'intelligence' really means....

measuring intelligence...two pretty successful species that probably dont need to change anyway regardless of domestication..like i say...ur measuring intelligence on a scale that makes no sense..i mean fucking dogs or cats...wasting time on crosswords????..i think they may look at that as fucking stupid.

so you base your sweeping generalistaion on being the owner of a lurcher..

there has been indepth studies into 'intelligence' in dogs, and in one of the most referred to the lurcher (nice and loving pet i'm sure) is not mentioned in any category..

so what you mean is you know that your dog is not intelligent in comparison to your cats..

how do you think wild dogs or wolves survive, do you think dogs would not adapt?
