Get someone to give it a sharp prod with a wooden spoon. If you faint or collapse shrieking, it's probably broken.

Then if its broken you need to ensure its not compounded. If you have damaged the cartilidge inbetween it will take three weeks to ease. In either case get to A&E and get an xray!

The X-Ray will confirm a break for sure but I can give you tge medical opinion now. They will prescribe paracetamol and allow them to heal on their own. That is of course providing they are a clean break and still aligned.

Trust me I have broken all but 3 of my ribs. You know it's bad when you sneeze cough or fart hard and they hurt.

Good luck with the pain

You will be looking at least 6 weeks for bruised or broken ribs to heal. Hope you don't develope a cough or laugh too much in that time because the pain is awfull.

you got to make sure you breathe normally as its tempting to take short breaths cos of the pain .i was given strong painkillers to take at nite . no short cuts either way . takes time to heal .patience is needed. ( so now you goin to browse to see if theres a lady called patience on here)
