Anyone still send out these? In today's modern world of instant connectivity it's far easier to call, send a text or a virtual card, but is it better?

I think something that was hand written and sent by that person acquires a bit more significance and intimacy / familiarity.

So, do you still send Christmas cards to people or thrown in with the modern times? I plan on sending a couple, but won't go to the lengths my grandmother would with a gigantic mailing list

I will send a few to close friends and family (I'd be in trouble if my nan didn't get a handwritten card).

I love receiving handwritten cards and letters, especially in this digital age that we live in, it just feels so much more personal

Maybe a trend coming back into fashion?

I still send Xmas cards.

And I make sure they have as much glitter on as possible

My folks and that generation get hand written cards, everyone else I’ve previously designed one I can send electronically.

Glasgowish

I love Christmas cards but sadly i think people are stopping sending them. I must admit i have cut back but this is mainly due to the cost of postage stamps.

I paint, draw or print a dozen or so every year. Just for family and a couple of friends.

I just like doing it.

I stopped sending crimbo cards a few years ago, instead I make a donation to a local charity.

I also am not fussed on receiving cards at Xmas because they just clutter up the place....

I promise I am not becoming the Grinch

I agree. Now, are they written in print or cursive?

There and to the left a bit

Anyone expecting a card of any form from me that isn't family (and even then it's selective these days) will have a long wait - stopped doing it 20 odd years ago when I realised I was just sending them willy nilly because I felt I *had* to and was receiving the same in return only to bin/recycle them after Xmas so decided those that I really wanted to send them to I'd buy a pint for and enjoy time in their company instead

Exactly

I always buy a box to send to family etc and to my Sister and neice in Canada.

I maybe old fashioned but I prefer the personal touch of a Xmas card rather than something online.

If there's any spare cards, I write some out to my neighbours, addressed to the house number.

Do you think folks from older generations are generally more appreciative of this? I think so from my experience.

Definitely, they like receiving a card through the post whatever the occasion, it’s their way. I remember one aunt saying after I’d had my lad “oh how nice, I’ll get two cards now”, and she does, it makes them smile and that’s important

Llanelli

Can't remember the last time I gave out cards at Christmas. They can be handy for making tags for presents the following year though if you receive them.

Think it's mostly older generations that make it a yearly thing to write them.

It's a lot easier to just send a Christmas message to everyone I think

Print, because it's neater than my cursive handwriting - but is cursive in style (if that makes sense as long as people can read it it's good)

No postcards, no decorations, no cards, gifts or trees, no Christmas generally speaking. Just how I like it.

Tbh, the twats I'm spending this year with are lucky I'm feeding them

Adding that extra touch would make it far more personal

I send Christmas cards to some family members and friends (generally those of a particular generation) because I know they like and appreciate the effort. I've been exchanging inappropriate Christmas cards with one close friend for almost ten years now, it's our weird little tradition.

South Wales

I’ve sent out four plus one birthday card.

I tend not to write many as I used to write out bloody shedloads for my Nan and gramp and it just killed it for me. Was like a military operation.

Find the address book - panic because address book was missing - find it - go through cards received so far and reciprocate - go through address book alphabetically - debate if need to send one to the person they met on holiday in Isle of Man 10 years previously - do they have correct address for Aunt Florie in Sidmouth - Ring Aunt Florie and discover she actually lives in New York now.....

And on and on it went...
