Who doesn't like dogs?

I've always wondered how some people don't like dogs. I always say if humans had hearts like dogs, this world would be an amazing place!

I get fear as a reason but imagine not liking dogs? When someone tells me this, it instantly can put me off them and make me weary!

What other things can people do or say to put you off them straight away?

Dogs over humans all day!!

I think the hair and slobber put a lot of people off added to the additional responsibilities of walking etc!

I was never allowed a dog growing up soon as I moved out I got my four legged fur baby! Only regret I have was not gettin one sooner!

Really easy, I used to like them, but generally i can't stand them now, having spent 13 years, week in week out picking up dog crap from the pitches so I can coach rugby. Kind of spoils the cute and cuddly bs. I know it's down to the owners but that doesn't make the weekly pitch patrol any more pleasant.

I didn't until I met my ex. He had a dog. When we split, he didn't take him as he had become my dog. Now I trust my dogs judgement on ppl. If he don't like you, it's got a good reason. My boy has great instincts

Dogs can’t fake emotions and they have unconditional love for us ... I have an Alsatian and he’s my world and my friends and family have to adjust to him and not the other way around , anyone who doesn’t love dogs are the people to watch and are untrustworthy and not worthy of our time

Depends what dogs: Rottweilers not a chance. They can smell fear, or something else, I swear. Also a particular black lab, that chased me round my car 3 times before I bailed and jumped inside to pull funny faces at him.....before I realised I forgot to shut the passenger door.

Rotties are amazing dogs when they’re raised correctly. Although when they aren’t they end up attacking my dog and have to fight me

Anyone who comes to my house knows they have approximately 30 minutes before they're evicted off the sofa by my dog who wants his spot back

Anyone complains gets told that they are more than welcome to stay away

I have a German Shepherd too ahd he is amazing! Been there for me through some pretty rough times

I love dogs, I really do. I'd love to fuss all the dogs. I don't enjoy it when an owner can't control their dog by voice and lets them bound around off leash.

Where I live there is a huge prom with a great bike lane on it. The dogs obviously don't understand bike lanes but the owners don't call them back or control them, and they've caused a few accidents running in front of bikes.

Must be hellish if you really don't like them and they come bounding over.

couldn’t agree more. The dog that I had to fend off was fine once it realised it wasn’t going to win. Obviously it’s owners had just been letting it away with everything

We have 30 acres it's insane how fearless they are. Jack's too we had 2 of them for 10 years. Love both breeds. Nothing stops them when their instinct kicks in. One morning I went out and the daschund was underground chasing a groundhog. It was funny hearing the barking underground.

I ended up laid across their living room rug, giving belly rubs and getting kisses

Had many different dogs. Now have a Doberman, 2 next month. People cross the road when they see him! Weird just weird.

would depend on why they hate them. Is it through fear maybe, or a traumatic experience.

I'd certainly question them if their reasons are just through dislike, or purely selfish vanity reasons.

However I'd never trust somebody that a well behaved dog does not like.

Poorly raised dogs can be absolute nightmares, that's no secret. Just like kids, a large portion of the blame is solely on the parents not the dog.

I have a young Presa who I rescued who is the most gentle soul ever,and wise beyond her years.

A very old Dogue who has been tru thick and thin with me and all is peace and quiet with them until my daughter comes up every weekend with her Pug/ I have no idea what, mix, but he is as close to a single cell organism as one can get,

and he turns the house into a mad mess the minute he bounds tru the door, the Giant Dogue thinks he is 2 again and the Presa tries to mother him, and he thinks he's bigger than them combined, all the while biting their neck flabs,

I've always loved dogs and had them as a child. Then again when in my early twenties for a few years but was dogless for over twenty years. Was asked to look after a leggy staffy for a couple of weeks 2 1/2years ago while a new home was found for him. He's still with me now and we've just got back in from a very wet and muddy walk on the field

Right... When youre a coach responsible and kids are blinded by it... Yeah you worry a lot about it. And before you say it doesn't happen... It does....sadly a local 14 year old lost his site from falling in dog faeces.

Err I haven’t critiqued anyone’s comments. I’ve stated that I ( referring to me and me only) find it sad. I haven’t critiqued your view, made a negative comment or criticised you in any way. I was never allowed any indoor pets as a child, only had rabbits. So since I left home I have always had cats. Last year I got my first dog - a small terrier, rescued from Macedonia. She has the sweetest nature and everyone loves her. She is my little shadow and any man I was interested in would need to love having her around too or he wouldn’t have a chance with me.

I’m not a fan of dogs. Mine is more s fear thing though. Was bit on my face when I was younger so I really don’t like them jumping up on me. Actually took a parcel to my neighbour the other day and she was like oh come in and her fucking huge bull dogs were jumping up at me and scrammed all my leg.

Yes humans have bred and trained or mistreated them to achieve that.

However I don’t understand anyone leaving very young children alone with any animal, you are the adult and it is your duty to manage the risks.

I love dogs, have a 16 year old one that I rescued at 14 months, However, I like well mannered dogs and that comes down to the owners.

Creating a safe space for them, not leaving them alone for too long, or ever with young children, treating them like dogs, not child replacements, or dolls, being their pack leader, not letting them run riot!

So I usually prefer the dog to the owner!

(I also have cats and they all get on with the dog)

Rotties are amazing dogs when they’re raised correctly. Although when they aren’t they end up attacking my dog and have to fight me "

Again down to humans. You might have a rare occasion where a dog may snap for whatever reason, but any dog treated properly will give you nothing but love. Don't blame the dog, blame the owner

How you are with your dog in the privacy of your own property is entirely your business, but too many dog owners aren’t responsible in public.

The dog gets the bad rap for it but it’s the owners fault not the dog.

We have both & as we live on a hill the cats live upstairs & have access out “Uphill” the dog lives downstairs and goes out “Downhill”. & never the Twain shall meet

Our pet hate is so called “Friendly” dogs off leash as our dog is fine with people but he has a huuuge prey instinct, basically if it runs he wants to chase it down so he’s never off leash & at nearly ten stone he’s a handful if others get too close.

He’s a bit more chilled now at ten years old but you still can’t trust him with other dogs. He is a rescue though so we have no idea what happened up till he was three.

He’s one of the reasons we bought this particular house over another, more chance of errant sheep walking past here than dog walkers.

It’s like saying all dog owners are selfish for not cleaning after their dog shit on every pavement and parks in Uk, or let their dogs barking all day while they are at work.

Some people have many reasons on why they don’t like dogs: trauma, allergies, fears etc..

can’t believe I find narrow minds even in here.

I do like dogs btw, but I don’t have one because I think it’s cruel to kept one in a town house, I grew up in a farm and had one, loved to be out all day with him...

"Love dogs

Unfortunately the dog would be alone most of the day due to work

Plus I couldn’t pick up after it

Makes me want to throw up

I admire those who do pick up

You have my admiration wish I could do that

So I pamper other people’s dogs especially my neighbours

I buy him those dog chews that clean it’s teeth plus a few other treats

I put my hand in Lily’s poop last week when picking it up ha ha ... balancing acting not getting it all over the lead "

That’s what puts me off

Am a wimp when it comes to picking up poo

"I suspect my attitude to dogs is largely driven by my own reaction to them, continually barking/yapping means I can’t hear myself think, a mad spaniel charging up to me (or any other dog doing the same) raises my own aggression levels to be very high the dog senses this and it escalates. These are not the dogs fault it’s the owners for not training them properly. I can exist quite happily around dogs if they’ve been trained well - hence my statement of ambivalence.

We love dogs but can’t stand yappy breeds. Our Akita is a breed known for being quiet, ours barks at strangers at the house which is to be expected & that’s it. Outside of that our cats are far noisier

Agreed, With our boy it was take him from the rescue or they’d put him to sleep as he was quite aggressive & pulled so bad he dragged me into the middle of a main road once when he caught me off guard. Guy in the van was peeing himself laughing though so least we entertained someone! & all because he saw a pigeon! Fekkin tosser

I'm going to go ahead and say im not a big fan of dogs. I dont dislike them and ill happily pet a friendly dog, but I dont really have any interest in having my own dog, I guess my family and my cat are all I need in the house. Plus I have enough commitments for now.

Go ahead and hate me if you must, I guess I'm just more of a cat person

Don't like dogs that bite, friends of mine had one, even bit the dog behaviourist, some dogs ( and it may have been mistreated) can't be allowed in public

Growls, snarls and barks are often attempts to avoid conflict

I think all dogs are entitled to a life

I sponsor a charity that provides a safe place and a long term home for reactive dogs that can't be re-homed

I love dogs.. Growing up we always had dogs and as an adult I've only ever gone 6 weeks without having one. My dogs are all indoor dogs as well I personally wouldn't keep mine outside.
