In what way would removal of these words affect people from Essex or Girls? Is there a plan to rename Essex or will it be known as the place formerly known as Essex?

Will girls be known as young females or something else?

The actual story is in the link below - it *has* been removed from *one* dictionary which is aimed at people learning English but: "The term will stay in the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), however, because its publishers claim it is a "historical dictionary", in which "nothing is ever taken out"."

Well you’re from Essex Tom. Do YOU feel that every woman you’ve met in your county is everything that the term ‘Essex Girl’ is meant to imply?

Isn’t it a little like saying all blondes are dumb, and all guys with 6-packs are vacuous and self obsessed?

It’s just lazy generalisation.

The OED have decided not to include the term in its latest edition because the term is no longer widely enough used.

It was on radio 4 the other day.
