Help me understand why people use filters on their pictures

Why not? There's loads on mine that are B&W or I've altered the light especially in winter. But I have plenty that aren't also. If you don't like them scroll on past find the profiles of those you like

I only use the black and white thingy on my phone. Some pics I prefer in b&w. As for the ones that people use to change their face etc god knows! And it’s so bloody obvious.

We use colour filters...

Nothing is ever photoshopped at all but we like to play with lighting and contrast.

Because they took the pic without wearing makeup, thought “shit, where did my eyelashes go?!” And so used a filter to help out.

Loads of pics in the hot photos use skin smoothing filters etc, but folk don’t seem to mind that.

I use a UV to protect the lens, sometimes a polariser to remove glare, and sometimes an ND filter to stop down the exposure whilst maintaining a wide open aperture

I figure a good rule of thumb is if you'll actually have it on meeting, it's fine... so lingerie/make up aren't in the same bracket as filters
