Why is no one talking about the Zika Virus?

Why?!

Has it just gone away?

I have read that bird flu is eliminated once the bird is cooked. Does this mean that these 25000 turkeys will enter our food chain and be eaten by unsuspecting diners this Christmas?

North West

Some facts: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/bird-flu/

In particular, the statement: "H5N8 has not infected any humans worldwide to date."

I explained on the last round of hysteria why influenza that infects birds is either highly unlikely to, or will not affect humans. But no-one paid any attention so I won't explain the varying receptors in the respiratory tracts of humans, pigs and birds again.

And all infected birds will be culled and disposed of, even though you would not contract bird flu from the meat (because H5N8 doesn't infect humans, nor would it pass from the digestive system, seeing as influenza is a respiratory infection). What you might be doing though is spreading the flu to other birds by moving the carcass, hence them disposing of them immediately.

But bollocks to the facts
