Moon boots. Huge plastic monstrosities with elastic straps across them, so it was like walking on two miniature trampolines. I thought I was the coolest ever that year.

We also got the predecessor to all video games - think it was called pong? Essentially you hit a little square ‘ball’ with a moving longer line and they called it tennis!

I don't remember the Christmas, but when I was a toddler my parents got me some puppets that were a huge craze at the time. Shortages everywhere, apparently quite the story getting hold of them. (I was a bit young for Cabbage Patch dolls) I still have them

Me too - but it was Connect4 I was REALLY good at! Pontins champion 1983. Life went downhill after that pinnacle!

Oh and that thing I think it was called fashion world and you made clothes for a barber. I loved art things.

I remember saving up my Christmas money for a dolly changing station and then being gutted because it was really shit.

Oh and I always wanted a Mr Frosty but my mum said it was a waste of money so as long as my son was old enough I bought one for him and my mum was right I think we used it once

Star Wars and Action Force figures/vehicles,then it was electronic games but the best ever was getting a Megadrive when I was 10, I'd spent an entire year or more just staring at pictures of it in the Argos and Littlewoods catalogues and religiously watching Gamesmaster to see clips of the games for it, was amazing when I actually got one!

The one that sticks in my memory as filling me with glee was when totally unexpectedly some friends of the family bought me the biggest Scalextric set that was available at the time - any Xmas money I had that year was then spent on expanding it further.

was pretty much the same with my Hornby train set every penny went on new track locos waggons etc ended up building a massive permanent layout in our cellar .got sold on with the house when we moved out

It was tough also as parent was in ambulance team and in 80’s was strike which went over Christmas I remember parents still managed buy me something but wasn’t huge but I was so greatfull.

I had gone with my dad to support and say hello to his friends and a lady seen me at the picket line and was shocked how realising it would impact my Christmas so gave me the turkey an said take home so you can eat. It was wow
