Does anybody else feel like they've just been left on the shelf and all of life's good opportunities have passed them by?

Nope, and negative thinking won't get you off the ledge either

no but I think a lot of people are feeling that way at the moment.

What makes you feel like that?

No, life's to short to wallow in self pity

Think of it like a game of football, you've had a poor first half so it's time to win the second half

It’s not self pity by any means.

Not left on the shelf, however I do think I wasted emotion and time on those who never deserved it in the first place. Those experiences have impacted my vision of the future and what I believe I'm able to contribute moving forward, so I'm placing myself on the shelf.

I've got a job and good friends, that's the best I can hope for til the day I drop down dead.

Quite the opposite and I'm very thankful for that.

I sometimes think that I have missed out on certain aspects of a "normal" life, but then I believe that a lot of what happens to you happens for a reason.

The only thing is appreciating the reason.

Dwell on the positive and take time to take mental snapshots of those positive moments. I remember being on the ferry to Ko Phangan, looking at the small islands passing by, thinking this is about to be a great adventure, life long memories. When needed I can then go back to that moment and feel the warmth and positivity

If you just peer down from the shelf they WILL pass you by.

Get down and get in their bloody way!

Make some new opportunities.

What do you want from life?

That's the first question you need to ask yourself.

When you know the answer make a plan and make achieving it your priority.

There are many opportunities I missed or squandered. I didn't take them because at that time I did not make them my priority.

It's never to late to change priorities.

What are you passionate about?

OP...I didn't feel left on the shelf but I did feel beaten down and broken. Then, I heard about a site that piqued my curiosity. I signed on to it and had a look around. A few weeks later, I feel rejuvenated, learning new things like what "Edging" is, taught by my lovely friend (you know who you are), met bubbly people who throw wonderful parties and help boost my confidence (you know who you are). Now, I don't feel quite so broken anymore. I still have my moments but they are certainly few and far between now.

Basically, it was hard to get up and do anything but I finally did a small thing that an unexpectedly big impact.

Try and see what your 'small thing' is.
