I am the size that is always available because everyone else requires bigger sizes (I'm not talking about waistline, just overall) and I often need adjustments or tailor made so as to have it fit me properly!!

I’m a size 16 after losing quite a lot of weight this year. If I could only nuckle down and lose a bit more from my stomache with fat free diet and some exercise I could lose my last stone and be at my target weight and size 14.

But as Christmas seems like it will be cancelled this year I might do a pretend solitary « spa break » at home and crack on.

It's annoying isn't it!!

I'm similar, a 10 in some, a 12 in others and a 14 in one or two. Nightmare as most of the clothes shops have closed their fitting rooms

It depends on the clothes but I have dresses ranging from a 10 to a 14.

It depends on the style really, dresses with a fitted top and flared from the waist I usually take a 12. If the dress is fitted then a 12-14 depending on material.

Even worse if you want to buy some sexy underwear - cup sizes should be standard but they can differ wildly - if you buy some as a present then I suggest you look at what underwear brands and sizes she buys herself and then look at those ranges.

And also - if you buy anything online that was made in China, however lovely it looks in the pictures it will only fit a very slim 10 year old!

Speaking of China, I've just moved back here after living in Asia for several years. I'm a small man and it was heavenly because everything is made with with a smaller cut. That "10 year old" cut you mentioned is actually pretty much average for Asia.

At my biggest, I was 44 waist and XXXL pushing XXXXL tops

I dropped down to 34/36W and M/L tops

Right now, I'm 36/38W and L/XL

I'm very much an emotional eater and I need to be in a very particular mindset to lose weight

I know when the brain is set to act

Even though, right now, I'm not happy with having put a stone or so back on over this year, the headspace just isn't there to act on it

I would say most of my wardrobe is a size 16.

I do think men have it much easier when it comes to the size of clothes.

I've just bought two dresses in a size 16 and one is absolutely huge on me, the other is too tight. I am also sat here in a size 12 jumper that is too big but I am definitely not small enough to be in a size 12. It drives me mad.

"

Not if you are a Cadburys Mis-shape they don't

Try being a short fat man

An XL top fits me round the middle but goes down past my hips, the sleeves an inch or so past my hands

If I buy trousers, I need to add another tenner on to get them altered. The mimimum leg on the high street is 29" and most are 30" or even 32"

My legs are 26.5", so turn ups would be needed to my knees

Did any other women notice a fluctuation in weight during your 20's?

I was a pretty constant weight up until about 22 and its been up and down since then.

Anything from a 6 up to a 14. Depending on the shop, the clothing item and the style I want...generally I like over sized, baggy and super comfortable so I’ll go a couple of sizes up.

Shopping for jeans that fit properly is probably the most frustrating but really I’d rather do anything that clothes shopping.

I'm what ever size I can fit in ! I honestly don't know, sizes vary so much and I've always struggled with ladies fitted stuff as either the arms are to short or the legs ! My other problem is that whilst I don't have massive boobs I do have a broad frame so to get that's nice suited and booted fitted look there has to some major alterations. So I just don't bother. I also like cake a lot so its a blessing really!

I'm a 24/26 depending on shop, cut, fabric etc. With the weight I've gained this year I'm more 26 than 24 at the mo.

You think there's a variation in dress size OP, try needing a bra - I've got sizes from 38 to 44, C cup to E cup. How hard can it be to standardise sizing?

Trousers are a straightforward 34/36 waist but tops and shirts are a nightmare as I have very broad shoulders. I've got m, l and xl t shirts because it all depends on the fit. For shirts I usually have a 16" collar but it has to be a slim/tailored fit so it's not baggy around the middle

Oh yes, I hadn't considered the cup size. I'd like to buy something online now as a gift but I think her cup size may make a difference.

Speaking of China, I've just moved back here after living in Asia for several years. I'm a small man and it was heavenly because everything is made with with a smaller cut. That "10 year old" cut you mentioned is actually pretty much average for Asia."

For bra sizes go online and look it up on Google - you need to measure around the body under the bust for the size and then around the body across the centre wearing a bra (nipple placement) for the cup size - the guides online will give you an idea but brands do differ - if she is a DD or above the cup size is crucial.

I dropped down to 34/36W and M/L tops

Right now, I'm 36/38W and L/XL

I'm very much an emotional eater and I need to be in a very particular mindset to lose weight

I know when the brain is set to act

Even though, right now, I'm not happy with having put a stone or so back on over this year, the headspace just isn't there to act on it"

Yes I am an emotional eater too. This year has been so hard for all sorts of reasons and the lack of hugs and kisses has made it impossible to be happy in myself. However I did adopt a gorgeous little dog in the summer of 2019 and she has helped a huge amount with cuddles and a walk every day. Let’s all try and make 2021 a fresh start to living our best lives. x

Yes I learnt that the hard way - however they pretend they have made them to fit U.K. sizes - just fraud really as you can never get your money back.

Ooohhh...Asian women tend to have fewer curves, hence the cut us 'straighter', if that helps."

No they pretended it was made to fit a size 18-20 so ordered their size 4x large and it was still for a 10 year old with no bust. I went to India a couple of years ago and went into a designer shop aimed at the Western customer. They only had one dress in the shop in my size but luckily I loved it so bought it.

Woman’s size 10-14 and size 6 in shoe really feel bad for woman as they don’t make clothes in a unreversed size like if I Oder a dress from one place I am a 10 but in others 12 and in a some case when they no stretch I am a 14 send so much stuff back due to not fitting

By my measurements I'm a 12 chest, 10 waist and 14 hips. I mostly buy size 12s, sometimes a 14 if it's fitted. Though I do have quite a few size 10s in places where the sizing is very generous. I have one fitted black dress in an 8 . Some places take vanity sizing to the extreme.

"Did any other women notice a fluctuation in weight during your 20's?

I was a pretty constant weight up until about 22 and its been up and down since then.

I've spoken to others about it and apparently that's a thing. The more you know "

Kind of. I was very thin until I was 18 then gained weight but just to an average size which I maintained until I was 23. Then in my final year of University I gained about 3 stone due to a combination of health problems, sleep deprivation and not eating consistent meals due to a crazy schedule. I've been slowly losing it since and I'm now about 5 pounds off my previous weight. However I look different to how I previously did at the same weight. My pelvis is physically larger than in my late teens/early 20s and my body fat is distributed differently.

Lockdown lard still needs shifting.

I was slim in my early 20s when I swam every day, played squash and football, but then kids and career put an end to all that. My dress size doesn't bother me, but the lack of tone does.

Hips 16-18

Waist 14

Chest 16
