When reading a thread I dutifully read the opening post and then replies that follow, and then post something that pops into my head after that. When I read it back most times I realise I never actually answered the question posed and went off on a tangent somewhere!

So, Do you answer the original question posed or just whatever comes into your head. Does it matter? Will this thread make it?

up a bit, right a bit...that's the spot

I always start out with the intention of answering the OP, but then I get distracted, forget what the question actually was, and just waffle

It's even worse if it's an OP with more than one question

Or I respond to someone else's comment that has nothing to do with the O.P either

Sometimes I'll remember to quote the O.P and then it's there to refer back to.

Sometimes. Looking back, I don’t think I read the opening post properly or I have misunderstood it and I waffle on

Then I read the whole thread back to myself and realise I’ve made a dick of myself.
