Does anyone ever wish they could just get past the feelings they don't want to have anymore?

I've heard the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else haha, doesn't seem to be 100% full proof to be honest,

Answers on a postcard

Yes. I think we can all be guilty of being impatient. It just takes time. You will get there though.

Yeah, happens.

Time heals all. It sucks, but it's honestly the only way. That and distracting yourself.

Eventually you'll wonder why you were caught up in the first place

Time. And distraction.

Although shagging someone just to forget someone else rarely works out as you would hope.

Time.

I can confirm, shagging someone else doesn’t work.

Just allow yourself time, a bit of distraction can work but just be careful

You will be fine

I'm currently the opposite. I've never had romantic feelings and it's quite nice discovering some.

It really doesn't work, tried and tested.

Ha, it's not always romance. Some feelings just need to piss off

But I'm glad you're finding romance

I remember reading it can take half the length of a relationship to get over it.

But from my experience that depends on who wanted it to end lmao.

If you wanted it to end, you'll be over it the mean your partner is out of your life hahaha

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Feelings tend to surface when I'm least expecting it. I certainly haven't been looking for them either of the times I've found them though.

So I've got a good few months yet. Awesome

I did end it tho, but the damage was done

If your on about when a relationship ends why would you ever want to think or hold grudges against them.

When you were with that someone it was great right? Just because now it isn't shouldn't remove the good times you shared.

If they were abusive or violent then yes I agree you should try to forget.

People fall out with each other over smallest and silly things then by not talking a gap grows wide between you.

Do you ever stop caring about someone you once loved? Because I'm sure most won't admit it but now and then you do think about when it was good.

Keep those good memories as that was what attracted you to them in the first place

I was with somebody for about 4 years, and although it ended was hard, the fact I was ready to end it months before it did end, meant when it did, I was fully ready.

I've known friends on the opposite end, who thought everything was rosy then the person left them seemingly out of nowhere, and they've been depressed for months.

Until the next anyway lmao.

Under the Duvet

There's a train station I go through on a daily basis where years ago I sat crying my eyes out, proper snot bubbled wailing, with a broken heart.

I thought I'd never get over it.

Spoiler alert-you do.

And every time I pass through that station I allow myself a wry smile.

Time does heal OP, as long as you allow yourself to grieve and move on.

I always admit in a relationship when I'm wrong and always give her some space.

Women like to do things like watch soaps and don't like being disturbed when getting gossip.

You can have plenty of time together she will make it clear when she needs you.

I think a lot of men ( me included ) miss signals a women gives that she feels pressured or a guy is acting too needy.

I'm sure this causes a lot of break ups and the guy can't work out why.

Never be frightened to admit being wrong, give her the high ground and pick your moment to bring her down.

But do it with humour not with anger or finger pointing.

And remember to tell her you love her. For Christ's sake she needs to hear it.

They worry

Sorry to hear that you’re finding it hard OP.

Firstly NO...getting under someone else doesn’t make it better, it usually makes you feel worse as you’re trying to drown out those emotions which inevitably will come back and hit you.

Like how so many have mentioned above that time heals those wounds. They really do

Try to look and hope for the best for that person. Cherish the good memories you made.

Letting go of feelings is probably one of the hardest things to do when you care about someone but you have to think about you first.

It doesn’t mean you care any less about them.

I hope you get through this OP

I'm ending my friendship with my bestie tomorrow. My heart is broke but I cannot support her decisions and its making things too difficult so I need to step away. There is nothing worse than this sort of hurt

I wouldn’t get with anyone else at the moment, isn’t really fair on the next person to be used as a distraction and if usually just makes you feel worse.

If you could hold on till my book is published I have a chapter on acceptance and letting go, that will help

This is how I felt last year... I was in love with someone that massively betrayed me and the pain of it was almost unbearable.

What helped me was interacting more with friends and the passage of time.

It can be a long and hard process but it does happen eventually
