I love live music, we both enjoy it, last band we saw was the Stereophonics in march, just before lockdown, we have seen them maybe 9 times.

I just got excited because i saw that OMD are touring next year (hopefully) and coming to Leicester .....but their tickets are around £100 each !!!!

I think the most we have paid before was for Coldplay and Muse.

How much would you pay to see your fav band and who is your fav band ?

Best gig I've ever been too was Dreadzone a couple of years ago. Love the band and they were clearly having a ball.

Plus the sound system was epic.

I'd gift my first born to see the original Pink Floyd line up play (obviously time machine needed too)

Once I drove to watch the artic monkeys from Portsmouth to Birmingham got there to hear they cancelled they rescheduled for my daughters birthday so couldn’t go so thought I’d sell them to tickets and brought two for Glasgow

Then I didn’t sell the Birmingham tickets and had flight to Glasgow hotel etc

Ended up spending over £1100 on that gig lol x

Last gig was Grand Magus in Manchester in early March. My son was meant to come with me but couldn't get the night off work so I went on my own

I won't pay silly money for gigs, but we want to see Rammstein at some point.....

Dunno, more than £50 or £60? No gig needs to cost that much. I was going to take my Dad to see Andrea Bocelli ages ago and the minimum price was £95 and the majority of tickets £125. It was a big fat no!

The one I remember being expensive was Kate Bush, think it was £80and I was up in the gods. I should have paid for a better seat. Think that's the most I've paid for a gig. Bowie was about 50, most mid size bands are probably 30ish these days. Smaller bands you can get away with a tenner.

The OMD price seems very high, I saw them a couple of years ago and well it was variable lol

500 for Stone Roses? You do know this isnt a time machine, they were absolutely shite live. It was the experience you remember being great and that will never be replicated

My favourite band has always been Huey Lewis and the News. I have seen them perform seven times, met them three times and been back-stage with them once.

They are not popular enough in this country to command high ticket prices but I would certainly have paid more than I did to see them. Their modest popularity made it possible to meet them before and after shows.

Sadly it is very unlikely they will ever perform again as Huey has lost his hearing. Maybe it's time for The News to go solo! Luke

Most gigs we go to are approx £60 or more, Muse cost a lot more.

We did see Andrea Bocelli for free in 2016, he only sang 2 songs but i was pleased i knew them, it was an amazing day as it was the day Leicester lifted the Prem trophy and he popped in because he's friends with our manager (at the time).

I saw Bowie about 35 years ago but i can't remember how much it was as i had gone because i liked one of the support bands. The queue for the loos was the worst ever !!

I'm suprised at the OMD prices but i presume they know they can ask that much. I have seen them years ago and they were great.

The first concert was at the Wembley Arena in 1988 and that was £18. I think subsequent tickets were either £20 or £25.

I must admit, I won't do stadium gigs though. No matter how good the band. I'd rather see someone more obscure, or coming up in the world in a small venue with a bouncing atmosphere than be stuck a million miles away from the stage because I can't justify spending silly money on the 'good seats'.

There and to the left a bit

It's not so much the price of the tickets as the quality of the gig for me to be honest - have paid £70-£80 a ticket and seen some great gigs (Muse, Foos, Green Day as examples) but have paid nothing to see a local pub band and had just as good a time.

Average I pay is around the £50 mark - most I've paid is £250 but that was for a weekend at Butlins with food included and Madness playing twice along with other bands/comedy acts/entertainment throughout the weekend.

Most I'd pay normally for a gig would be up to about £100 - unless The Jam got back together then I may be prepared to break the bank.

I used to regularly pick up tickets cheap on ebay before they stopped ticket sales and tried to force them to stub hub - think I saw U2 for £25 a ticket (face value £70 odd) in 2010 and Muse for about the same in 2014.

Paid £90 a ticket for Green Day/Fall Out Boy/Wheezer on the same bill this year but was postponed to 2021 (and have my doubts it'll happen)

Have seen many bands over the years, some were free, a good example of this was Starship (formerly Jefferson Airplane) in Phoenix Arizona, at the State Fair.

Festival weekends are getting way too expensive these days, so I've retired from them and just watch local bands with the upside of a decent pint at a reasonable price just down the road

Going to see your favourite band/artist could be a once in a lifetime experience, so I’d pay a high amount to see them.

I’ve been lucky enough to see a lot of top artists and there’s nothing better than hearing them play live....

Dubai & Nottingham

We prefer those little O2 venues and Rock city, you have to catch the bands early though. 2018/19 we saw Rudimental, Ella Eyre, Jess Glyn, Pink, Sylvan Esso, Laura Marling, Lawson, Sigma, Disclosure, Example, met most of them and drank with a couple of them, all about £30-£40 I think Pink was more , £100 is too much and it’s going be some big silly venue watching them on a screen for that price

There and to the left a bit

"I paid £470 for four tickets to see Pearl jam in the summer this year.

The disappointment of it being cancelled was added to when I got the ticket prices refunded less the £80 booking fee... fucking legalised thievery at its finest.

For real? Ticketshafter?

That really is daylight robbery, especially when you consider how little they actually do for the booking fee in the first place and when it's cancelled beyond your control just makes it even worse!!

Booking fees are scandalous now that you, the customer, enters all the relevant data AND prints your own ticket or use your device to show the QR code "

I don't begrudge a "nominal" fee after all, they do facilitate you being able to buy the ticket in the first place and have to make money somehow - just checked my Green Day booking, which to be fair was with Ticketmaster and for a face value of £225 for all my tickets the booking fee is about 10% for them printing tickets and sending them so not too bad - but what Sam got fleeced for is scandalous, likewise when they ask for a fee for you to print your own!!

I've seen the Foos 4 or 5 times live and never paid more than £60-£65 I think. Not sure you get more VFM than 90 minutes with Dave Grohl & co!!!

We also did ZZ Top in Chicago at Ravinia country park a few years back. IIRC it was $150 for the gig and backstage Q&A session & pic with the band etc. Absolutely worth it. You could get tickets outside the 3500 capacity open air arena on the grass area and I'm sure they started at something crazy like $15! People were just rocking up with picnics, beers, etc and having a great time.

I do worry that some people expect album/studio perfect renditions at a live gig, if you expect this you're always going to be disappointed. Most albums have been been 'produced' to the point that it is impossible to recreate in a live environment.

A good band/artist can play live first and then lay down a decent record second.

I prefer live gigs as you find good bands let themselves go, and if they're a tight band then you're going to hear a truly great performance.

Agreed. Do you know who sound absolutely brilliant, utterly incredible and really tight? Tenacious D. They're excellent (and very silly )

I saw Phil jump down off the piano to play the drums at an Eric Clapton gig at the NEC back in the late 80's, cost me and ma ex about £30 each

I had one gig cancelled and the ticket cost refunded, but didn't get the £18 booking fee back. Other fans hounded the person's manager on Twitter and she made sure everyone got the booking fee refunded too.
