In history young ladies of mid to high standing who wanted to marry those of equal or higher standing and required their virginity intact to do so. Then shagged by a member of nobility or royalty and declared 'ruined', and therefore unable to marry above their standing.

And they all lived happily ever after unamrried and free to shag as they pleased. Hurrah

Think that was all a Victorian invention, like chivalry.

Oh fantastic. Next person that says they want to ruin me is getting a lesson in how, as much as I may look innocent I'm no virgin

And also a lesson in how they're no feckin Royal and they best not be thinking they're better than me.

I imagine the face upon receiving such an informative delight

I think you’ll find even women who were caught up in scandal could marry well if they had enough property and land as everything they had became their husbands after marriage.

Another very good reason not to get married Ladies.

I've no intention of marrying above or below my standing.

Would you ruin me please?

Unfortunately at 5'9" you are above my standing, I'm only 5'6". Get the yellow pages out and I'll be around in 10 (months when lockdown is done)

One of my favourite poems is the Ruined Maid by Thomas Hardy.

"One's pretty lively when ruined" said she.

I think that in Feudal times the Lord of the manner had rites over young virgins before they got married..

Is that true ?

I believe in certain country's Royal privilege and law allowed the taking of a commoners virgin bride on her wedding day, prior to the ceremony. And so cuckolding was born

I wonder in those olden days how many young virgins willingly gave themselves to the Lord and Master..
