The Fab Secret Santa Cause

'Tis the season, everyone!...Well, almost! I started this in our wee Irish Forum but I would really love as many as possible to join in so please excuse the copy and paste job

I'm always grateful for our Fab community with no shortage of some of the nicest people you could ever hope to encounter! Sadly this year hasn't been what anyone would have hoped for, to say the least, but thanks to each other we're still standing!

However, whilst Christmas is normally a time to be jolly, seeing friends and family, it's all too often the toughest time of the year for so many. Even without considering the unprecedented times we're living in!

So this year I'm calling on the wonderful people of Fab to help bring a little Christmas cheer and a little companionship to not only one another but to those who may need it the most.

By joining in the Secret Santa Cause you'll be paired up, in secret of course, and asked to surprise your match before Christmas Eve with a festive treat just for them! Be it a message, a wink, a picture, maybe a poem, a sketch or even just a 'Merry Christmas' to help raise a smile

More importantly you'll also be tasked with making a donation to the charity of your choice on behalf of your fellow Fabber

Already there's an amazing amount of generous Fabbers having joined in but with so many causes in need I would love as many people as possible to take part! To help raise awareness and show support for our local charities that do so much within our own communities but have struggled the most this year.

So along with your festive surprise to your match, let them know what cause you've chosen on their behalf too! Just say you're "in" and help spread some Christmas cheer and support a worthy cause

Hard to argue that, I'm always scared to post here to be honest

Awk but even one more joining in will be worth it

Yay! That's over seventy lovely Fabbers joined in so far overall

The goal is over one hundred as I'm perhaps glutton for punishment! Whether it's a board game for a local toy drive, blankets for a nearby animal shelter to a donation to a national or worldwide cause there's none to small... Plus you could make a new Fab friend out of it all too!

What is the plan to bring to fruition?

"What is the plan to bring to fruition? "

I plan to pair everyone up throughout the first week of December. I'm very grateful to have friends offer to help in that regard if filters are an issue because I don't wish to pester anyone

After everyone's paired up I'll set a date, perhaps sometime within the final week before Christmas Day, for everyone to send their festive surprise to their match on here as well as let them know what charity they've chosen!

The honour system will do the heavy lifting!

After realising how poor I am at maths there's now 100+ joining in already so I just wished to say a huge thank you to everyone!

I'll start pairing people up next week with Friday, the 4th, being the cutoff. Please be mindful of filters but I don't wish to pester anyone so, again, a big thank you to those who have offered to help in that regard!

Then I reckon two weeks would be time enough so the 18th will be when Santa Claus makes an early visit to everyone

Just a final wee 'bump' before matches are made this week

Also I just wish to say that I would hate to think anyone would feel under any pressure to make a big donation of sorts I know this year has been tough for everyone sure.

A good deed for a friend or neighbour, spare towels to a local animal shelter to even just checking in with someone who may be spending Christmas alone. Anything that spreads a little joy is more than I or anyone could ask for

Just to say I hope to start messaging out to as many matches as possible from tonight

Please don't worry if your match has filters up that may apply to you, I'm certain everyone will take into the spirit of things when it's time to send your 'gifts' to one another
