"If you know you know"

Why past tense? They could still be living. You really have to split it into sub genres. Heavy metal, Rock, blues, soul and oft neglected but equally valid electronic.

I couldn’t possibly choose one band over another. I have certain favourite tracks depending on the current mood I’m in. So in short, it varies from genre to genre.

This was put to 30000 readers of a music magazine in 2017. According to that group -

Third place, Pink Floyd

Second place, The Beatles

First place, Led Zeppelin

Fab actually has the numbers to supersede that vote! I'm going for Iron Maiden, The Police and U2.

One where its the best band in the f**king world.

"Its gotta be the Beatles ...whether you like em or not ....they changed the world of music ...every body else came after "

But the likes of Bill Haley and Chuck Berry changed it before them and influenced them...and then the likes of The Pistols, The Clash and The Damned turned it on it's head completely...and various other genres and sub-genres did it again at various points.

I'd also argue that the likes of The Stones, The Who, The Kinks and others or that era had just as much of a part in changing the world of music as The Beatles did

Don't get me wrong, I love The Beatles and love the way they evolved over time from what was essentially the first boy band into the band that gave us Sgt Peppers and more but I also don't think they single handedly changed anything

Elvis Bill & Chuck are not a band....I like lots of bands more than the Beatles ...but cant really argue with them being what they were ..the first ...and opened up music ...still relevant after all those years (unlike most of the others)

I didn't say they were a band just that they changed the world of music and influenced The Beatles as a counterpoint to The Beatles having changed it - and arguably Bill Haley & The Comets was a band, but that would be getting into semantics.

The Beatles were undoubtedly a major influence on the shape of music at that time but then so were many others, also all relevant today (including all those I named) - but music is an ever evolving thing and has been since the dawn of time

The Beatles, I’m sure the majority of people in the western world are aware of them as a band and could name a few of their songs as well.

They’re not my favourite band but their legacy is surely going to be remembered more than any other.

What's next....
