"Been bopping to Bill Hailey this morning. Got to love a bit of 50s rock and roll ![]() ![]() Being from Merseyside you should be more than happy listening to the Beatles. Lennon’s voice on Twist and Shout is fantastic. I like some 50’s early 60’s but not Bill Haley. Thankfully Elvis appeared and blew them away. I’m too young (just) but can you image the impact Rock & Roll had on kids at that time?

"I grew up on many types of music, I'm a musician & enjoy a variety of styles, depends what mood I'm in but have to appreciate many of the older Rock n' Rollers but if you want to put a modern twist on it check out Brian Setzer & his Orchestra. Especially with Xmas on the way they have some great classics well worth a listen. For something totally different jump on YouTube & check out Broken Peach, Puddles (his version of Royals) or any of the Postmodern Jukebox stuff according to your taste, if you appreciate musicians & ability I think many will be mildly surprised. " I do like postmodern jukebox and alike, will have to search Brian Setzer later when not working ![]()

"When I was younger, our main watering hole was a pub that only played music from the 50's & 60's The vibe was fantastic People even carried on dancing around the fighting ![]() Reminds me of the novel "Jack Returns Home" which was filmed as "Get Carter" there is a statement about pubs in the 1970's that runs along the lines: there was drinking until 9am, dancing until 11pm and fighting and fucking afterwards.

"When I was younger, our main watering hole was a pub that only played music from the 50's & 60's The vibe was fantastic People even carried on dancing around the fighting ![]() ![]() We had a lads holiday to Kavos in 1995 Before we went, we made 3 mix tapes of 50's & 60's and got the guy who did the pool bar in the hotel to play them The place was rocking & we made loads of friends as a result The bar man said he'd never sold as many drinks I think it's 'happy' music, it makes you feel fun - particularly when mixed with sunshine and cheap Greek spirits ![]()
