The BBB have decided not to play the original version of Fairytale of New York this Christmas in case people and especially younger people are offended by the lyrics. Instead they will play some edited version. No. It's the snowflake, virtue signalling, ageist, prattish BBC who are offended by everything brigade..

What tosh.. Thought police out in force..

It’s only radio one, it will can still be played on their other channels and up to the DJ to decide.

There has been an alternative version since 1992, so it’s nothing new and most covers feature the lyrics of the amended version rather than the original.

They've always banned songs or changed bad words. I know of a few songs where the F word was changed.

Also back in the olden days there was a song called Relax that was banned completely off the wireless.
