There and to the left a bit

Terminator 2 not necessarily better than the original but benefitted from Arnie's rise to fame and the vastly superior budget

Back to the Future: the third film was by far the best.

The Dark Knight is so much better than Batman Begins.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Scream 2, Addams Family Values.

There and to the left a bit

Die Hard 2 was certainly up there with the first one...should have stopped there though as 3 and 4 were well below par

Yes I agree.

This principle also applies to Fast n Furious.

It just got daft and repetitive after No3

To be honest most sequels that stretch beyond a second or third one tend to end up milking the same cow - Jaws, Police Academy, Terminator, Rambo to name a few.

Struggling to think of any apart from Aliens and possibly Rocky that managed it (and even Rocky arguably went downhill after the third one)

I think the exception to this would also be Saw.

I enjoyed each one because they were unique in their own way.

The Bourne trilogy were great at the time but when you see them now it's easy to spot the repetition.
