I have always been extremely shy throughout my life. Even to such an extent that when I was 14 I had a stunning girlfriend who wanted to get naughty but I m sorry to say I bottled it.

I’m fine when I begin to chat and I have a fantastic personality when it comes out but cannot make the first move on either message or chat room. It would be lovely if people messaged or just winked back to start a conversation.

To some men it’s just making the initial move that’s the problem and being constantly ignored doesn’t help with self confidence.

Morning OP, I can see what you're saying but a lot of people aren't looking at the moment. Covid has quietened a lot of chat down especially new conversations, people are more hanging about to chat to friends or just play on the forum for now.

Don't be disheartened. Join in on threads and get chatting that way Have a great day

Unfortunately most women and couples just wait for messages and don't go looking. For the same reason you describe- it makes them feel shit when they don't get a reply. Which is really crap considering how many take the piss out of men who feel bad when they don't get a reply! Zero empathy or self awareness.

Maybe when the country opens up again next year you could try socials. Then you can chat face to face and show off your personality.

And you overcame just a little piece of that shyness, to write that! That's a huge achievement already! Keep going!

Think of it this way OP - you say in your profile that (pre-COVID) you go to clubs and your veri confirms that - now that is a huge step for many people, and even more so for someone who is shy or lacking confidence (and trust me I know, I've been that person) - so use that inner confidence you found to take that step, to try and build some here.

Sometimes it's about finding the right approach - I'm not that great at sending people messages "blind" it always feels awkward to me, so I don't do it any more - maybe try getting involved in the forums, comment on things that take your interest, you're not posting *to* anyone specific that way but you'd be surprised how many conversations get sparked off the back of forum threads once you get a little bit established and a regular poster.
