"I've claimed and getting a phone call tomorrow but im scared and stresed out and so worried I can't think straight or eat anything , id bottle it and cancel but no money coming in. Is being on uc difficult? Im worried about slipping up and getting fined/sanctioned " Really dont worry about it. Afaik they are not sanctioning anyone atm. i have not even spoken to my advisor to 'sign on' for like 4 monthes atleast. I actually had the phonecall that my Nan had died while sitting in the Jobcente waiting room for my first appointment to start claiming and they where cool about rushing me through it

Is being on uc difficult? Im worried about slipping up and getting fined/sanctioned " Found myself in the same position recently, as in having to claim. So long as you are honest and just give the facts you're asked for it's fine. Being on UC is hard financially, obviously but it's better than nothing at all. I'm sure you'll be fine

As long as you are being honest you have absolutely nothing to worry about The times are hard and the benefit system is in not there to give people a hard time unnecessarily.

"Write yourself a list of why and what you need ..and the position you find yourself in ..at least you'll have some ammunition for the call " Having worked in a few different telephone call centres myself, I can say that having "a script" is a good thing (the person who calls you will have a sheet of questions to ask you as they fill out your application. Have your bills, recent wage slips, bank statements etc. close to hand. Remember you won't be penalised for an unsuccessful application, you will be for a false one. -Give only your honest answer to every question.

" I csn only access the Internet on my old android phone to apply for work, do journal on uc login, so dare'nt take phone out or loose it/damage it. May be a good idea to buy a backup phone

Is being on uc difficult? Im worried about slipping up and getting fined/sanctioned " Some good advice in the thread already about being prepared and having things to hand. Though from what I know they don't pay you for 5 weeks to start with. It's designed to mimic wages and be a month in arrears on housing costs from what has been explained to me. Like the others have said, stick to honest facts and you can't go wrong. You'll have email and text notifications when they require something from you so as long as you check those and do them you can't really go wrong.
