Secrets in my family

So, a few years back after an email from my dad's brother, it transpired I had older siblings I didn't known anything about.

I ended up on the tv show 'secrets in my family' and we all met up and was lovely.

Now in the last few days, we've all had a DNA hit on ancestry. The reading isn't particularly helpful and shows possibilities of first cousin/grandparent/ and of course step sibling...

Given the age of person in question, and age of my uncles it can only be another step sibling..

Yay

"Wow how exciting"

Growing up thinking you were the oldest of 3, to find out you were the middle of 6 (potentially now 7) is a funny feeling.

My dad certainly got about a bit

2 wives. 12 by one and 11 by the other. Unfortunatly i dont know much about it but both wives died and left him a widow with 23 children. Unfortunatly the ones who where young and couldnt fend for themselves had to go to the barnados home. Its an interesting story just a shame i dont know many details

I'd be so interested in doing this!

My mum left my dad when I was 18 months old and I haven't seen him since. Not so much interested in seeing him again, but I would like to meet my aunties and uncles and cousins (I have at least one auntie on his side) on his side, and, as I'm an only child, I do wonder if he had any more kids and if I have any half siblings put there.

Interesting times ahead for you and your growing family OP

I found out on my 23rd birthday that the man I called dad was not my biological father, and we were not speaking at the time. My mum died when I was 9 and I had to find out pieces of information from family members who had kept it secret from me throughout my life.

I spent the next 13 years deciding whether I wanted to find my biological father and so one day I created a Facebook page and after some basic searching I found him and messaged him. I only asked him one question, if he knew my mum. He told me everything my family had given me and more.

We met for a chat and that was 10 years ago, he is now a member of my family and a grandfather to my children. I have met 2 of 3 of my half siblings but not any other members of family on his side and tbh I am not interested as I only set out to find my father and that I did.

Good luck to anyone embarking on such a journey.

Her x
