Are females harder to be friends with?

More male friends than female in the real world. My friends list here is only female.

I used to think so. It's changed for me probably in the last ten years. For me it's down to communication style and a willingness to be vulnerable in different ways.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Most of my friends are male, in real life and the fabosphere as well.

The few female friends I do have tend to be very very close or just acquaintances.

I have only one proper female friend and a few, close, platonic male friends. I just seem to find it easier to get on with guys x

It's difficult to explain, and it's not entirely generalisable because women don't all interact in the same way, clearly.

But there's ways women and men are usually taught to interact. I used to shy away from the roles I'd been taught, almost trying to be an honorary boy. But it doesn't serve me.

I find my relationships richer and fuller being myself, including the gendered conditioning I've experienced.

For me, yes...I don't "get" women. I just find men easier to get along with, always have. I can be very straight talking, and I've found that generally men appreciate that, but women tend to think I'm being nasty and get upset by it (* gross generalisation, not all men or women, but the majority in my personal experience). Plus I'm not a girly girl, I'd rather have a conversation about cars than makeup or clothes. I have more male friends than female away from fab too

I thought you and I had a connection... it seems I was just dreaming

In real life I have a lot of man friends but one of my oldest and dearest friends is a chick.

Also... my wife and I are really good friends.

She’s a good friend, I hold her hair back when she’s drank to many shots and is icky.

I (Mrs) get on better with guys, Mr gets on better with women. But neither of us has very many really close friends, we mainly have each other.

Maybe I won't have as many female friends if I ever get a wife!

I have a solid mix of both male and female, and have always had a mix since I was a kid. I was probably one of the only girls who was encouraged to have more male friends as a kid ??

You can have both.

You just have to find the right wife!

I have 5 or 6 close male friends

I get on very well with women, especially the ones who are open to a bit of smut

I don't mix well with prudes

Many more female friends. I just don't get men, women are so much easier to get along with. I find that very often men fail to see the nuances of, well anything, while women are more appreciative of the complexities inherent in negotiating modern society. I guess not all men are the same, maybe it's just those in my experience.

It may be that I'm just not that interested in "manly" things, I frankly get bored by anyone talking about cars or football or nights out on the piss... Conversing about literature, feminism, equality, society, science, the arts is much more me and for whatever reason seems to be more likely to be found in female company than male. This is not just my experience on fab either, it's very much the same across all parts of my life.
