"He was, is and always will be Scottish"
Then why was it always mentioned that he was the first Brit for 74 years in the final?? Not the FIRST Scotsman in the final ever?

He went to Spain and America to improve his game.......if he stayed in UK he would be just another Tim Henman.

Why does he have to be Scottish or British? He is of course both and needs the support of everyone.

When Marray won the doubles he was referred to as British not English and of course he is both. I don't hear the English bleating on about that.

What is the big hoo ha about it?

So blubbing is embarressing? When Novotna did it they all loved her so is it embarressing cos hes british, a man or just cos it fuels a dislike you already have?

As for him being anti english, he isnt tht was media spin and a load of bollocks.

i do understand that some dont like him cos he comes across as a dour scotsman but lets take things in context, he doesnt trust the media cos they screwed him over when he was a teenager, he does have a wicked sense of humour but doesnt dare to show it that often, when it comes to tennis he is focussed and serious (a bit like lendle) andlets not forget that he comes from a small town of just 8000 wher people he knew in his own school were massacred, that has to focus and influence his mind set so if he isnt all light and fipperry and is foccussed and proffessional ok, he is there to win first, if he entertains all the better but that isnt his primary focus.

Sorry but he is not really a loser is he, runner up yes but loser no?

He got to the final of one of the hardest tournaments in the world, he got £500k for being runner up and his world ranking goes up!

Yes I feel for him for not actually winning the match but bottom line he was out played by a 7 times Wimbledon Champion (one of only 2 players who have actually done that) so good for Andy I say, irrespective of being Scottish or British... he is a world class player who I have no doubt will take this experience and use it in the future to play a better game!!!

I didnt notice the Scotsman or Brit labels too much but did anyone else note that the commentary team were only a few minutes into the coverage when they threw in the 1996 world cup FFS.
