is it me or is it cheaper to eat out rather than cook your own these day's (well for a singleton anyway)

Not true, IMHO, as I can get 16 portions of food out of 20 GBP of meat, and I can't buy that in a shop for that kind of money.

Eating out will cost a lot me for me!

I bulk cook during weekends, usually on Sundays, hence I tend not to play on both Sat and Sun!

Bulk cook, portion up, then freeze them in the freezer.

And I know exactly what has gone into them and how they are made etc...

100% agreed & i have this conversation regular as i live off takeaways, for the likes of a full cooked breakfast much cheaper than buying all the stuff at the supermarket!

I just gave up and fed my daughter something she would eat!

Nuggets that had once been near a chicken and chips!

Said she wasn't hungry, then demanded pudding!

Thank god for syrup cake and custard. Thinks she got a treat!

Try the treacle sponge from Lidl's, very nice and cheap too!

I love Lidl's and Aldi's, got a Lidl's across the road from me

I would advise to invest on some good tupperwear, and/or a vacuum sealer to facilitate portioning the food after they have been cooked, to minimise the risk of frost damage and spoilage.

Its food meal deals and takeaways a plenty here,a terrible place to diet mind you!

However you can get a a great carvery for around £3.00 and a good full English for £2.75,propper Lincolnshire sausages too,not those bread and oats rubbish.

So yes,it is pretty cheap!

I love cooking and will do at the drop of a hat.

But i have become lazy of late and tend to have a jacket or something ive froze .

Thats why i love to feed my man when he gets here, it gives me the chance to whip up something tasty.

And there is no better compliment than an empty plate.

And if shopping wisely, you can cook cheap but very healthy meals.

And yes, it pays to bulk cook and freeze.

Oh by the way, if baking your own bread, remember you can not freeze it successfully.
