But being diabetic and on insulin, is this a good idea ?? as in will I be able to get insulin I can trust over there?? How much will it cost etc

any ideas anyone please ??

I've been a type 1 diabetic for 32yrs. I emigrated to Australia for 10yrs until 4yrs ago but before I applied for my permanent residency I found out much from websites and the Aussie embassy in London.

I'm fairly sure its in the EU so the insulin will be of the same brand as we use here. Perhaps an email to the embassy asking your questions might yield the answers you seek?

Everyone can buy insulin from the drug store for cheep as long as you have doctor's prescription. In certain situations where you have detailed medical examination you can get qualified for free insulin for life. Over all dont need to worry.

If you have any medical issues then be sure you have a very thorough understanding of the language before you move. I’ve lived in Italy for the last 8 years and my Italian is pretty good, but it’s always the more technical things that cause problems in terms of understanding. I had some medical issues at the start of the year and realised that any slight misunderstanding on my part of anything I was told by any of the medical staff could have significant ramifications, and was the first time I was concerned about not being fully fluent.
