Why are there no women in F1, clearly driving isn’t just for boys and there must be lots of talent out there to kick some butt.

Lella Lombardi competed in F1 in the 1970’s.

Which is even more surprising as it was presume even more sexist in F1 back then!

"The W series starts next year I believe."

they are going to race at the same meets as the F1 cars using F2 cars i think....

I think Suzi Wolff would have been a fantastic F1 driver.... she was due to do one of the an FP1 practice (i think it was the British GP in a williams) but they found an engine problem and it never happened

Can’t remember if she got to F1 but there was also a woman called Davina Galicia who was in F2.

back in the 1920s there were women competing in motorsport when the cars were physically harder to drive & gender roles were more fixed. Apart from Clare Williams I have not herd of any females involved with F1 perhaps more girls need introducing to motorsport younger

I think Lewis Hamilton gets a bad deal. I don’t know what he’s like to know as a person, he could be lovely or a right knobhead. But he’s very family oriented so that makes him a good egg in my books.

Also, he has a passion for motorsport. He has worked incredibly hard to get where he is. He’s worked his way up to formula 1 from the go kart type racing that he did.

Inter Team politics have always been the case as have driver rivalry (Prost & Senna!) so that is nothing new.

He set himself a goal and he worked hard to get there. I think he needs a pat on the back for that.

I used to love F1 in the 70s/80s/90s, it was genuinely exciting and had some great characters.

No where near the same now.

What a load of fucking bollocks. So if these other drivers were so good, where the fuck are they now and why aren't they in the upper echelons of F1?

You need to seriously cut down on the amount of lemons you eat, you come across as very bitter

Every time you knock Lewis you just show your ignorance about motor sport. The feeder series to F1 were all single make formulas so it was purely down to the drivers and the set up as to who won... and guess who was the champion in every category he drove in.

Danica Patrick was offered a ride in F1 a while back but she rejected it as she didn't want to be a novelty act.

Also, the money offered in the U.S. was more lucrative.

We’ve already had this discussion. But if there is a better driver. They won’t give him the contract this year and give it to someone claiming less of a wage??

Cannot understand why he is there, glad to hear that Ben Edwards i leaving too,

Webber, Coulthard and Monger, that's all we need, unless you could bring back Suzie Wolfe.

"Why are there no women in F1, clearly driving isn’t just for boys and there must be lots of talent out there to kick some butt."

The simple answer is that women are generally not as good as the men when it comes to driving at the very top level.

Reaction times are not as quick and when you’re at that level it’s the diference between crashing and not. Very few female drivers in any motorsports, wrc, nascar, Indy etc

It would be interesting to see how they compare to their male counterparts tho

You obviously haven't seen much of this years races, 110 points ahead and still 3 races to go?? He even lapped his own team mate yesterday in the same car.

He's a far better driver than anyone else on the grid and has much better race craft than any of the others. Also makes less mistakes.

What a load of nonsense! Year after year he’s proved that he’s the best, whether it’s in quali or wheel to wheel racing nobody compares to him!

Max is the only one who even comes close but ya know there’s a mistake just waiting to happen with him

on the road to nowhere in particular

There were a few back in the 70’s. Janet Brise being one.

Sarah Fisher had decent results in Indy a few years back. Wasn’t eye candy like Danica Patrick though.

There was also Michelle Mouton who competed in world Rally Championship

It will happen and there is no physical reason why women can’t be in F1.

It’s just a question of numbers. If you look at all u you lung men entering the sport at karting or grass roots and how many make it into F1. 0.1%? At a guess.

Now only 5% of those are girls. Therefore the numbers are always against them

Wow, one day I will see an F1 post without Hamilton bashing, I guess this isn't the day.

Pretty pathetic how we view our talented sportsmen in this country sometimes tbh.

There have been some women but of the thousands of racers only a very small minority are female.... Of those thousands of racers only a handful of the best drivers get into F1 so it's not surprising we haven't seen it yet.

I am sure a woman with the talent and dedication will come one day- Susie wolf got very close but just didn't seem to be able to cut it for whatever- she always looked competitive when testing an F1 car tbh.
