"Don't really do soppy movies or chick flicks yawn prefer action ora good thriller" I'm with you there, however, Sunday afternoons, mile high pile of ironing, nothing better to while away the hours than a soppy or family film. If I had to choose - Corina, Corina!

"Mine is Roman Holiday. I fell in love with Rome after watching this film, and went there for my honeymoon. Sadly the magical romanticism in the film could not be replicated. " We did it the other way round - I took Perky to Rome in Dec 10 for our first break abroad and she fell in love with IT! (Bloody Romans - what have they done for us???????). When we cam back we bought the restored version of Roman Holiday and spent Xmas Day spotting all the sites and sights we had seen and been to. Everybody say 'Ahhhhhhh......' As for My favourite film - How's this for 'high-brow'???? HEIMAT. (Dir. Edgar Reitz) A German language film from 1986 following the life of a Germany family from 1919 to 1984. It is that good that Speilberg nicked ideas from it for Schindlers List (most notably the little girl in the red coat....). Watched it at the NFT when it came out, in a marathon 18 hour session (the film is 16hrs long).

" yes i remember that tho i could have sworn it was originally released as a series, and that Shoa at 9 1/2 hours was the longest film released (maybe its just the longest documentary) but im probably wrong, both were brilliant and powerful, I forced myself to watch shoah , kept a stash of food drink n so i had no excuse to miss a minute, and came away emotionaly numb (9 1/2 hours about the holocaust with no archive footage will do that) Heimat is more upbeat in that it shows germanys rebuilding after the war and the resiliance of family.
