.......feel old today?

Two things for me!

1) Students giving a presentation on gender equality stating "old traditions need challenging" then follows this up by saying "traditions from the 1980s and 90s. I don't think I kept my poker face on and my webcam was on

2) "Throwback" music segment on Children in Need, sung (well, mimed) by what looks like a new S Club 7 bunch of kids - started in the 1980s to the 2000s, including things like the Spice Girls and Black Eyed Peas. This is WAY too recent for me

Yes, I'm contemplating my mortality in advance of my 35th birthday which is soon

It's almost always my students nowadays. Another classic last week when talking about demographics affected by the pandemic in different ways:

Me: "Think about your grandparents and how they might cope with isolation" (a student earlier was talking about how technology could bridge the social isolation.

Student: "My Grandma has Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and calls me on WhatsApp video. She knows all about technology."

Me: That's great!

Student: "My Grandma is in her 50s"

Fuck. My DAD is 81

A guy at worked turned up with a Club chocolate biscuit and I sang the song. Looked at me like I had just shat in his kettle!

I suggested my group should watch Ace Ventura today because one said "alrighty then" . None of them had heard of the Ace Ventura films

I had a similar situation with a Trio a few weeks ago....

Today I was looking at my son's baby pictures, definitely feeling beyond my years today
