I think there are many layers to this.

As a person with no dick pics on his profile for example, it can be seen as 'oh he must not be confident with his genetails, ie they are small'

As with people with a lot to show maybe seen as 'all he has is dick picks, either he is not attractive or has nothing else to offer'

I think everyone has their own reasons into doing what they do with their profile. I find its always best not to have any prejudgements about it if possible.

My OP wasn't about cock pics in general, I do understand this is an exhibitionist site first and foremost.
