Just heard an attractive, smart young woman in the High street talking and walking with her friend. Every other word “fuck” this, “fuck”that.

I was shocked. Is this the norm or am I simply an old fart?

I think it's our increased levels of anxiety. I sometimes think I am swearing far too much. Sorry.....

I don’t swear in public but in the house and car I swear like a sailor (sorry sailors) how my child has never said a swear word I don’t know, although she did tell me to Cachau bant which means fuck off in welsh, not realising that even though I’m not fluent welsh like her, the swear words were the main things we knew in school

I’m going to remember and use Cachau bant.

Is the ‘ch’ pronounced as in cheese, or as ‘c’ ?

I do drop the odd f-bomb and I think being a woman does not mean you can’t scream, shout or swear. Growing up, I was expected to be ladylike and pure, but I do not see my upbringing as a justification now for censoring my mouth. And, do you know what, if I am totally honest, swearing is one of those things in life that I will continue to allow myself and sod what people think of me, I don't care anymore.

The ch is pronounced like you’re hocking up a big flem ready to spit out.

I swear. A lot. Not in public, though. Not because I don't want to be seen as "ladylike" by dinosaurs like you, but because I don't like to hear random foul mouthed exchanges from EITHER sex.

A bit rude of her to call you that imo.

Thank you. I thought it harsh. I commented on what / who I witnessed, if it had been a young guy then I would have called it as that.

Mind you, I swear with the best of them so not a prude, but I do mind my language in public.

I work in a school, it is very common amongst teenagers. Many don't seem to grow out of it for many years.

I’m not a prolific swearer.

I do sometimes swear for the humour value or to express my disgust at something with someone I know well or to add more weight to a story I’m telling to a friend.

I wouldn’t swear at a stranger and certainly not in public situations when I could be overheard.

On the forum at fabswingers.com I do like to use the odd rude word as it’s the kind of place that rude words are acceptable and I like that.

Shit piss cunt.

I swear occasionally, more often after a couple drinks, but feel bad if it’s in public. Guess I’m that age too

Sorry for late reply!

I called you a dinosaur as I got the vibe from your OP that it was the fact she was a smart woman swearing that troubled you. As you've now said that it's people swearing in general that bothers you, I take back my remark.
