They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.

To all our servicemen and women, past and present I thank you.

Also let's not forget those past and present fighting the war against Covid.

We salute you all

Mornin Prue I don't need any thanks, I did what I did as many other men and women are doing now.

The true heros now are those who are giving their all, helping to fight this pandemic.

Menston near Ilkley

A Poem for Remembrance Day

Why are they selling poppies, Mummy?

Selling poppies in town today.

The poppies, child, are flowers of love.

For the men who marched away.

But why have they chosen a poppy, Mummy?

Why not a beautiful rose?

Because my child, men fought and died

In the fields where the poppies grow.

But why are the poppies so red, Mummy?

Why are the poppies so red?

Red is the colour of blood, my child.

The blood that our soldiers shed.

The heart of the poppy is black, Mummy.

Why does it have to be black?

Black, my child, is the symbol of grief.

For the men who never came back.

But why, Mummy are you crying so?

Your tears are giving you pain.

My tears are my fears for you my child.

For the world is forgetting again.

Only served for a couple of years, medically discharged after a bad accident. But two guys I served with suffered afterwards and now lost to the country they would have died to defend.

It’s the first year I won’t be at the Cenotaph thanks to the Pandemic, but I will remember them.

There and to the left a bit

Respect to all who serve and have served.

For personal reasons is particularly poignant for me this year, and made more so watching the footage from the Cenotaph and not seeing the usual crowds and minimal attendance allowed under the circumstances.

Hello pp x just watched the service at the cenotaph. Really missed all the veterans but it was very poignant. My 90year old Dad was in the raf...he's just told me that he stood on his front path, with his cap on, saluting...bless him..xx
