A band from the mid 2000's called the Cooper Temple Clause were great but never became mainstream and split.

Also Interpol, Say Hello to the Angel's is a great track.

I know what you mean. I saw Rival Sons very early in their career and you feel like you are in on a secret no one else knows yet... but they soon will.
