Is bacon a fruit ? I like a bacon sarnie to start the day.

Fruit wise throughout the day. Banana. Blueberries. Grapes.

I eat lots of fruit, mainly because I'm not a fan of veg

My colleagues take the mickey out of me cos I have a fruit bowl on my desk

I fill it up Monday and munch through it over the week - usually just basic fruits like bananas, pears, apples and tangerines, but with plums and nectarines if I can find some nice ones

At home, I have berries with my cereal and a few nuts

SE London

I have a bowl of dried fruits next to my desk for snacking: apricots, apples, pineapples, raisins. Not as sweet as chocolate and cookies, but equally satisfying

Been eating grapefruit a lot lately. Half a red grapefruit before each meal. But it’s more for fat loss than enjoyment. My Nan used to sprinkle brown sugar on my grapefruit but I’m having it without.

Does it work for weight loss?

Black grapes, specifically Sable variety. I have to stop myself from going through the entire punnet.

I love pineapple, mango, pears, peaches, apricots and Medjool dates too.

During lockdown I developed a craze for cut up fingers of watermelon they sell in the supermarkets.

It can do but whenever I do it I massively change my diet anyway. I eat it then have a high protein meal cos it’s supposed to speed your metabolism.

Strawberries and raspberries. I could eat them as my only source of nutrition.

When I was a kid, my Dad took me to see Torvill and Dean at the Nynex Arena in Manchester. I ate almost a whole punnet of strawberries before we went in. I was sick

It didn't put me off

None. Although I love a cold juicy apple, fructose is converted by the liver into triglycerides and I don't want them in my bloodstream. Most fruit has been modified to contain high amounts of sugar too and nobody needs that.

Most of the fruit we eat is imported so unnecessary mileage, only for vast quantities to be thrown away, bananas and avocado being the most disposed of.

I’m a seasonal type of guy. At the moment Blackberries, Apples and Pears are my turn too. Next month will be citrus, the Christmas Pineapple being especially looked forward too (I don’t know why we get citrus at Christmas, I am guessing it’s because of seasonality overseas colliding with our winter celebrations, I know that it is orange season in Pakistan for example)

My 5 a day doesn't include fruit. The way I look at it is this. A cuppa contains 4 of my 5 a day.

The tea comes from plants that grow in fields. That's 1.

Sugar grows in fields and I take 2 sooooo, that's 3.

Milk comes from cows that live in fields. That's 4

And if have a slice of Lemon drizzle cake then that's 5 a day at least 3 times a day, or have I misunderstood?
