Did we know there's only 1 actual colour of eyes ie. pigment colour? That colour is brown. All other colours we observe are due to a lack of brown pigment due to possession of one or two mutated copies of the gene for eye pigment. Bright blue eyes like mine have almost no pigment; green/hazel eyes have some pigment; people with brown eyes have pigment. Colours we observe like blue, grey, green, yellow rings etc are all just our observations due to the way white light scatters upon striking the eye. You express your eye colour genes slightly differently in the various cells of the iris and this is why we see rings and patterns of slightly different colour.

They teach lies to children at school

Manchester (she/her)

"Did we know there's only 1 actual colour of eyes ie. pigment colour? That colour is brown. All other colours we observe are due to a lack of brown pigment due to possession of one or two mutated copies of the gene for eye pigment. Bright blue eyes like mine have almost no pigment; green/hazel eyes have some pigment; people with brown eyes have pigment. Colours we observe like blue, grey, green, yellow rings etc are all just our observations due to the way white light scatters upon striking the eye. You express your eye colour genes slightly differently in the various cells of the iris and this is why we see rings and patterns of slightly different colour.

They teach lies to children at school

and people still saying they have blue eyes..

I'm just a mutant "

My eyes are an illusion. I'm brown deficient

"So dark brown that they’re almost black."

They are like conkers but that isn’t very poetic. Then I thought of polished wood, but that has certain connotations so I hade to bin that too...

So I am came up with:

“Like the ripened fruit of the horse chestnut that delighted the little folk in the autumn as they clutched the bootlaces and squealed with each thwack, now your eyes delight grown men with their deep mystery, shining in all seasons with decadence and mischievous potential....”

Should of stuck with “they’re like conkers”

Mine are mostly blue, though can often be grey, or even green, depending on mood, weather and altitude.

K's are a rich autumn brown.
