That is not at all what I said and you know that.. FFS

In Newcastle I'd guess 0.5% of girls are black women at the very most.. Lots of Asian girls who stick 100% with their own ethnicity..

I am an amazing father a true gentleman and I was looking for some help and perhaps advice... So jog on if you have a problem.. Capiche..!

"i'm not at all bothered that she's black"

Why should you be?? Why does skin colour have to come into it?? I'm Olive skinned.....does that mean I have to be categorised into 's compartment' because I'm not, say, fair, golden, pale?? Nope, I'm a human! Same make up on the inside as any other female human!! I really don't get why people have to 'compartmentalise' into colours!

Now, as Eminem stated,

“I don't care if you're black, white, straight, bisexual, gay, lesbian, short, tall, fat, skinny, rich or poor. If you're nice to me, i'll be nice to you. Simple as that!”

Let that sink in and stop going all Mafia on me with your 'Capishe' crap!! Doesn't suit you!

Why nervous about her colour? It makes no difference if these is physical and mental attraction then skin colour isn’t an issue

What advice do you want? Are you worried that you might say something to offend her?

Do you know her as a friend or is it like a stranger date, you met randomly and asked her out?

Hi OP... the way you put it across was that this is just about the colour of her skin.

I understand that you may not know many black people but as has been said..she is just a woman, a woman who happens to be black. There is no difference, a woman is a woman...full stop.

Chill out a bit and enjoy yourselves.

No not kind of advice is not to much to ask.

I'd say start by taking a deep breath!

So you really like her. O can understand you being nervous and wanting to make a good impression.

Well she has agreed to go out with you therefore she finds you attractive and wants to kmow more.

Just be yourself...it's working for you so far with her and good luck.

If you weren't bothered about her skin colour you wouldn't have mentioned it. You might not be prejudiced towards her (clearly, as you're going on a date) but the fact she is black is obviously on your mind, which is already a terrible start.

As for advice, make sure not to call her a retard if she disagrees with you on anything

What sort of advice are you looking for?

As you mentioned, you haven't met many black ladies, so I can completely understand why you are feeling a bit confused!

It's much easier if you just think of her as a woman, regardless of colour.

If you can manage that, you should be fine mate

Honestly OP, for someone who is not at all bothered by her being black, it kinda sounds like you are.

My best advice? Don't mention it. Don't say she's the first black woman you've gone on a date with, you've never been with a black woman or anything like that. Try and treat her like a normal woman because that's what she is. And for the love of cheese, if you start discussing certain issues (actually possibly best you avoid them), don't use lexicon like solidarity.

Try and not think about her being black and enjoy yourself.

Why are you asking for advice? Would you have asked for it if you were meeting a white girl? She's just a woman and the colour of her skin shouldn't matter and black people don't need to be treated differently, just be yourself and go on the date with this WOMAN

Some nice advice. I think OP is just over thinking a little and some people on here are either being harsh or just misunderstanding him. Although to be fair OP you haven't worded things well. Although I do think people often lack understanding of other peoples backgrounds and exposure to the world, which is not their fault. We don't live in a world where skin color doesn't make a difference. Unfortunately the world does see color and this can effect people's experience of the world. His experience of the world through his eye mat be very different from that of the woman he's meeting. I'm sure OP is trying to do his best to be lovely and not to make any faux pas. There really is no need to over think though just follow Meli's advice. Be yourself, open, honest and just be with the person. If it works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't like any other date.

What advice are you looking for OP? Is it how to behave around a black woman? No one can advise you on that not even a black man . If you feel you need advice about meeting someone from a different race maybe it's best not to go one the date coz the colour of her skin shouldn't push you to ask for advice on here.

Ok.

You are both bigoted fools that belong in the 1950's

You are both clearly uneducated and have obviously been brought up in an insular world where passive racism is allowed.

You think it's acceptable, he thinks it's acceptable.

Read the replies to his question.

Most people don't think it's acceptable.

You want to argue the point, but have a hidden profile (very brave and confident I assume)

If you cannot see what the majority of the people on here think is ignorant and unacceptable, then I'm afraid that you are an idiot

I agree, But, if you are going to mention education, it's probably best if you use punctuation when talking about it!

So, you’re meeting a woman and you’re nervous which is totally normal. Fail to see why her colour makes any difference.

I'm not at all bothered that she's black yet its a first for me and a bit nervous all the same...

All advice welcome but don't be an Emily Blunt OK!

Unless you stop defining her. by the colour of her skin, which is racist, and see her as a person, you are in deep trouble. Examine your definitions of person before you meet and good luck

Well this thread turned out well!

I understand first date nerves. We all have them, so in that regard OP just be cool, relax. Remember to smile, make eye contact and be kind.

The mention of colour i would avoid its already a given youse look different and will have different cultural backgrounds, why make it a thing? If i was on a date with someone not the same colour as me and they felt the need to make cringey comments about colour on a first date i’d be leaving pdq. Good luck op

Perhaps just change the op title ‘first black date’ to ‘ first cilla black blind date’ ... this would then add a new dimension and introduce a nostalgic and fun slant to a thread that’s going bad.

Objectification much?

I thought it was (hopefully) just a badly worded post, but the implied aggression in some of the OP's responses did nothing to allay my thoughts and win me round

Thank you! I read the op and some of the following comments and cringed. I also felt sorry for this black woman.

My son-in-law is 34 and white. He was born in Berkshire and didn't know any black people. He was in the navy at the time and going back to his ship in Portsmouth. My daughter had recently moved to Portsmouth for work and was heading home. My son-in-law said the most beautiful woman he'd seen got into his carriage and he said to himself if she got off at his stop he'd talk to her. He saw a beautiful woman, not a black woman.

I met my other half here seven years ago. Ben is Dutch, used to dating leggy Scandinavian blonde types, he'd never spoken to a black woman. We weren't a match, he just impressed by my profile and made a funny quip and I responded in kind. We decided to meet for a coffee...and be still brings me coffee.

Ben is 59.

I guess the problem here is it’s really difficult to work out what you’re asking advice for, it’s just come across badly! Without getting into all of it, as I think that’s been covered already, I would say treat it exactly the same as if you were going on a date with a white girl, as there is no difference whatsoever...... the nervousness is normal but it shouldn’t be because she’s black
