Halloween has never been Huge in the UK. Its nothing like how the Canadians and Americans do it, they celebrate it more than Christmas

When we were kids we were only ever dimly aware of Halloween and although I'd read about trick or treat in books I had no real idea what it was. It's a very recent thing in UK to people who aren't pagan and nothing like the original celebration of Samhain.

We observe Samhain in my house, a celebration of the end of Summer and to welcome the winter, it is a a time for reflection, and letting go of the past for me

Always cook a big dinner and candles stay lit until the end of the 1st of November.

As for trick or treating, it is traditionally a Samhain ritual.

Turns out that fireworks form a large part of Halloween 'tradition' round here

Spent most of yesterday eve dragging the dog off the ceiling

Ended up giving up just after 8pm and let him get in bed with us - under the duvet, with Alexa blaring out to try and block the bangs out

Halloween is an Irish Catholic celebration that they brought to America when they emigrated during the famine. November the 1st is all Saints or All Hallows’ day. Halloween is literally the evening before hallow evening Halloween

It was pre catholic it was a Celtic festival of Samhain over 2000 yrs ago.
