"I do, went to a gig at Elektrowerkz in Islington a while ago. Judging by the people turning up towards the end, I think it must have been a Torture Garden night there as well R"

"A little more retrowave with female vocals. Love 80s synth I love synthwave art " Yes, the female vocal stuff is probably my favourite strand. The art can be hit and miss. It's a lot of fun spotting stuff made by people who don't realise how small European cars are. Do any other fans of the genre finds that it makes an appropriate swinging soundtrack?

"Real like the new retro synth stuff that's coming out at the moment. " Absolutely ! I do dabble with the synths a bit. (Too many uncomplete compositions though Many great new bands exploring the style. What do you reckon on this ? Band called Korine - Song : Elegance & You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GA3iR_2qbQ

"I wish they just called it synth pop, why are music journalists so adamant in creating sub genres ??" To help better describe a style and find target audiences ? Because styles change, morph, evolve ? I like aggrotech. It's a very specific style. I don't want to wade through hours of mislabelled styles, hoping to get lucky and find an aggrotech artist. Labelling them right from the get go (if they are amenable, not all are) helps me find them quicker and more directly. After all, you wouldn't label all the following artists as just "Rock" or Heavy Metal" would you ? Slayer - Speed/Thrash Metal Iron Maiden - Heavy Metal Nine Inch Nails - Industrial Rock Nachtmahr - Aggrotech Meatloaf - Rock Led Zep - Rock Hawkwind - Space Rock It's helpful knowing the sub-genre.

" But there is very little difference between most synthwave and electro bands from the 80s creating modern music. I'm on a few synthwave groups and most of the music is basically electro pop but from 2020

"I don't know if that's correct... My shitty alexa if I ask her for any type of synth music, I get human league and Duran Duran..(that in my opinion is synth pop) . But I know the synth world is so full of many sub genres and rightly so But again, this is just my opinion " Absolutely, Human League and Duran Duran are definitely synth pop. Human League pioneers in some respects too. OMD are another quintessential synth-pop band. Ultravox another. I think the key word is "Pop" which to me means at the more commercial, radio-friendly (in the day!) end of the spectrum. Depeche Mode. Definitely synth. But Pop ? Hmmm...songs like New Life, Get The Balance Right, sure. Enjoy The Silence - Dance. Specifically written as a Dance track too. Yes it's "Poppy", but it was designed otherwise. Oh well, since Alan Wilder left I've not enjoyed anything much after that
